I just dumped United Healthcare.
"Healthcare executives are well paid but did you know the CEO of United Healthcare group has in his posession three quarters of a billion in unexercised stock options? If that isn't enough:

* his salary is $3.2million,
* lives in a $7.8 million, 9 bedroom house,
* a few years ago 1 in every 700 dollars expended on healthcare went to pay United Healthcare's CEO,
* during 2009, Stephen Hemsley earns $819,363.10 every day,
* UnitedHealth has spent over $12.6 million since 2007 to lobby against healthcare reform - this could cover the average healthcare cost of 992 families of four for one year"

I'm changing my Medicare supplemental policy (Plan 'F') to Mutual of Omaha.
The premium will be the same.
I don't know how much M. of O. CEO Dan Neary makes. It's a private company, not on the stock exchange.
I'm told that as a 'mutual' insurance company that it's 'owned' by policyholders.

1. Another United CEO also had a billion in salary and stock options.
in 2005, I think. Caused a bit of a stir. Apparently not enough of one.

I recall Elizabeth Edwards quoting that 1 in every 700 dollars of healthcare going to one CEO. I guess you found the source. That's a pretty killer statistic about what's wrong with our system. That needs to be talked up a LOT more.

3. I think I'll dump them too -- their excessive lobbying against reform
ticked me off also.

8. If you are taken aback by $400 per month for you and your daughter...
you will not be pleased by even the most progressive reform plans out there.Hold on to your hat.

9. HR 676. I'd pay about $255/mo in premiums and NO co-pays and NO deductibles.

6. Be sure to tell them why.
It won't change their hearts or minds, but you might get some satisfaction out of it.

11. How The Public Option Should Work...
You're fortunate you can change carriers and have control on your policy. Many others aren't as fortunate...at the mercy of whom their employer chooses. I'm self insured with BCBS and would like to stay that way. I am lucky to be able to afford what I want and would prefer those using the public system to be those who truly need it (and I don't even mind paying more in taxes)...as my hopes are my costs will eventually go down as the system cuts down on the extravagance, waste and greed.

One important element of reform allowing individuals to make their own healthcare choices...be it with a public plan or a private or a combination of the two. People should never have to fear losing healthcare due to a sudden job loss or change.

Cheers...
