Senate Minority Leader, House Minority Leader...

6. They will not answer ....
your question because they are pigs who don't think they have to answer to anyone who doesn't have millions of dollars to cross their grasping palms with. This comes with apologies to actual pigs, who would be mortally offended to be compared to politicians.

7. dumb question with an easy answer
because it's too expensive and the American taxpayers/voters don't want to pay for it.

Some questions for you.

1. your income and household size
2. how much more in taxes you would be willing to pay to give everybody that health care.

9. Not sure where you're getting that.
Most everything I read says 60-75% of the American people want healthcare with a public option and are willing to pay for it through taxes. The impediments to passage seem to be the congress critters themselves, not representing the Americans they are in office to represent, but representing the insurance and pharmaceutical companies that stuff their campaign coffers with fat donations.

10. health care with a public option
is not the same thing as every American getting the same health care that Congress gets.

13. I answered your question
drop my "cadillac plan" for inclusion...

Reduce my coverage and pay more...

I'm OK with that...what's your point?

15. it seemed to me you were asking why every American
cannot have a cadillac plan.

although further down mercutioATC claimed that Congress does not have a cadillac plan, but that's how the question looked to me. It's a fun applause line, but not realistic IMO.

Your generosity is to be commended, but only because it is not very common. Most people are NOT willing to pay more, at least not very much more. I am guessing that is Obama's perception too, which is why he ran on a promise to not increase taxes for people making less than $250,000 a year even though about 80% of households make less than $80,000 a year. Most people making $120,000 a year do not want to pay more taxes even after two or three rounds of tax cuts.

Thus my point, that increasing taxes for a majority of voters in order to provide excellent coverage for everybody is likely to be political suicide.

10-15% more than I pay already..

I have a Union negotiated plan that puts me on the 5-Star plan...That can go away if my employer declares bankruptcy....

I'm willing to go to a two-star plan as long as everyone gets it.

Did I answer your question?

12. As long as you realize they have decent but not great plans, I'm in complete agreement.
All federal employees have access to the same pool of plans (yes, certain people such as the Prez get more). They're good, but they're not "Cadillac insurance".

...and yes, we can and should provide a basic level of real access to health care to all Americans.
