National Equality March and Rally Washington, DC Oct 11, 2009.

>>>>>>Will You March With Us?
We are guaranteed equal protection by the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution. Free and equal people do not bargain for or prioritize our rights, so we are coming to DC this October 10-11th to demand equal protection in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states. Now.
On October 11th our march will begin at 12:00 noon and end on the west lawn of the Capitol building. Our rally will begin approximately at 2:00 p.m. with three hours of inspirational speeches and music. Click for a full schedule of the National Equality March weekend events including several workshops sponsored by national LGBT organizations. Click to view the march route and download a map for this event.

The march is not our final destination. It is our first step toward building a national grassroots network that will continue organizing until we have achieved full equality.

Please see the links in the blue box on the right side of the page to learn more about the National Equality March. New information is being added regularly.>>>>>>>>>

Great site. Lots of info. Checkout the links.

I hope to see most of DU on the mall... at least everyone on the east coast. (You'll BE there, won't cha?)

3. Cool. Hey, give this thread a kick tomorrow, will ya?
You're usually on the board during the day... and there is scant mention of the March on this site.

4. You: I'm not worried about.
It's all those fence straddlers... both of the homo and hetero variety.... that I'm worried about.

This is a march for EVERYONE, folks. Hence the word "equality".

Maybe I'll see ya on the mall.

5. I think a Saturday would have had a better turnout
Not many places get Columbus day off anymore so it basicly is the day before a work day for an awful lot of people who might have otherwise been able to go. I am hoping to get some sleep on the way back and am planning on having a test or quiz for my students that Monday if at all possible.

6. School on Columbus Day? The hell you say!
Weird... as Columbus' rep has taken an historical beating... the racism, slavery, etc associated with his expeditions.... NYC ( of all places) still clings to the old Columbus narrative. ( And we get the day OFF!)

Probably attributable in large part to the large Italian and Hispanic populations hereabouts.

History? Bah, humbug.
