8 years ago. Drove them out, killed them, installed a new government, paved roads, burned burkas, opened schools for girls.

I don't recall that we ever left. Hasn't there been an ever increasing number of troops there?

What are we going to do there that hasn't already been done?

bush pulled troops from Afghanistan to attack Iraq. I don't know the exact numbers.

What Bush did was to shift focus to Iraq more than draw down troops. In 2002, 10,000 coalition troops were enough to take the country and rout the the Taliban. Now seven years later 50,000 --oops excuse me! 64,000 coalition troops-- aren't enough to hold on.

Should tell you something.

Then pulled most of troops out and sent them to Iraq and proceeded to pretty much ignore Afghanistan they started growing poppies again and the Taliban, who had pretty much eradicated that part of the economy decided that the money was pretty good so they got into it also and now we are fighting the re-constituted Taliban thanks to poppy money, and *'s idiocy.

We never pulled out most of the troops, it's a fiction much like the one about we could have won Vietnam had we tried harder. There has been an escalation of troops in Afghanistan since 2004.

they skittered across the border to Pakistan, where we won't attack. You can't wipe out the Taliban without leveling the tribal areas of Northwest Pakistan, and since we won't do that, we should just pull out.

We can lob a few bombs into Kabul if we don't like what they're doing a few years from now.
