6. The no votes are coming from DU
Probably best not to think everyone on DU is going to add to the yes count.

Sad, really.

I worked my heart out and contributed money to get Obama elected but he has not earned this peace prize. It looks like meaningless symbolism at this point in time.

BTW, info from an article in the Washington Post:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/10/09/AR2009100901092.html?hpid=topnews>Nobel Facts and Trivia

Many believe that Winston Churchill was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, but he was actually awarded the 1953 Nobel Prize in Literature. In fact, Churchill was nominated both for the Literature and for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Mahatma Gandhi, one of the strongest symbols of non-violence in the 20th century, was nominated in 1937, 1938, 1939, 1947 and, finally, shortly before he was assassinated in January 1948. Although Gandhi was not awarded the Prize (a posthumous award is not allowed by the statutes), the Norwegian Nobel Committee decided to make no award that year on the grounds that "there was no suitable living candidate".

Gandhi was and is near one of the human beings I have most admired.

17. 205 nominees including 33 organisations
The Nobel rules state that the nominees names aren't to be divulged until 50 years in the future.

This year there were 205 nominees including 33 organisations. I'm sure some have worked hard to build bridges and help the cause of human understanding. But we don't know who they are who toil in anonymity. The deserving don't always get recognition, do they?

20. I've Seen At Least Two Names Mentioned In Other Threads That Were More Deserving.
And I'm sure there are dozens more.

I'M more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize than Barack Obama.
