....using this INSANE logic Stanley faked the war in Vietnam when he made FULL METAL JACKET too.

I saw this posted on another website and there were two pages of replies as to how this was the REAL TRUTH about our missions to the moon....makes one think there isn't much hope for the future when people will believe shit such as this...

Stunning Secrets of Kubrick's The Shining!

http://www.jayweidner.com/ShiningSecrets.html

In this symbolic interpretation the Overlook Hotel is AMERICA. It was built, just like the Manager says, on the graves of Indians. Even when walking on the floor of the Overlook Hotel, one finds oneself trampling over various Native American symbols.

The Overlook Hotel itself is America.

Like America, the Overlook Hotel is new and shiny. It is ostentatious, corny and architecturally boring. As the Manager tells Wendy "All of the best people stayed here".

But there is something very deep happening. Kubrick brushed shoulders with the elite of the world. He knows what is going on.

12. Not necessarily
Not that I believe this "moon landing filmed in the desert outside Las Vegas" shit, but there were some joint Apollo-Soyuz missions later on, and its not out of the question that the Soviets could have been in on the scam. If there WAS a scam, that is. Which there wasn't.

5. That was interesting.
Never would have noticed a lot of the details the author of that blog pointed out. Like the Americana symbols in the job interviewer's office, or that Danny is wearing a sweater with Apollo 11 on it, etc. It was worth reading the essay for that.

Doesn't mean he's interpreting the symbols correctly (ie that it means Kubrick filmed a faked moon landing). And even in the very long stretch that the first moon landing was staged as a cold war psych in the space race - what's with the author's weird assertion that it was actually faked to cover the US's 'secret saucer technology'? WTF?

13. the image of Danny facing the Twins was very intriguing
It is hard not to see the Apollo-Gemini connection once you know what's on his shirt.

6. That was fun.
I hate to see the beginnings of a good interpretation of Teh Shining turned into a springboard for psychotic conspiracy theories, but I admit it's fun to see how far and fast a nut can go when they get their crazy all spooled up.

If the moon landings had been faked, Kubrick would have been one of the last directors to hire for staging the big hoax, and you just have to watch and think about The Shining to understand why. Besides, by the time of the Apollo Project, Kubrick had long since left America, and had basically adopted his policy of never setting foot here again.

Buzz Aldrin was badgered by the director so much during the shoot his hair started falling out.

7. I am reading his interpretation of what The Shining is really about.
It's....uhhh....sorta Glenn Beck-ish.
" People walk past this propaganda all the time and they just don't see it"
( Riiigght...that is what makes propaganda sooooooo efective).

So, since I do not want to miss any more "propaganda, seems best I read this moran's view of the Shining, I guess.
