MSNBC: F**K jobs, "Investors will use 3rd-quarter results to gauge strength of economy"
As long as the investor class is fat and happy, I'm happy. What else is there for me to be concerned about?

:sarcasm:

Wall Street braces for earnings data

Investors will use third-quarter results out this week to gauge strength of economy.

1. Wall Street is all that matters,
everyone else can learn to suck it up.

2. Earnings up, jobs down, MSNBC is hap, hap, happy!
Where did this "liberal" media nonsense come from, anyway?

4. MSNBC did not say that, it said investors will be happy with earnings being up
This is a statement of fact, be it true or false, and quite honestly I feel that it is a true statement.

The truth hurts, but investors really don't care about jobs.

5. We had money invested as IRAs
but took it all out last year. I'm not going back into the stock market until people start getting jobs. It wouldn't be right for me to be making money while other people are suffering.

6. just being brutally honest
I'm guessing Wall St. would prefer a stabilized unemployment rate above 9% because it caps wage inflation and ensures workers are as efficient as possible for fears of losing their jobs. I don't think dumping on a stock market rally is wise, since the wealth effect helps the economy and creates more spending/jobs by those who are putting some of their capital gains to work... Not to mention it's allowed many companies to raise more cash through equity and remove/reduce some of that debt on their balance sheets, keeping those people working for them employed.

7. Companies that have been struggling won't hire until they know the cash flow is there.
Investors won't drop money until they're sure things have settled down. The money just isn't there for many companies to hire now.

I'm not sure why you're so pissed at this. It's fairly normal for quarterly reports to give an idea of how companies and the economy are doing, which results in planning moving forward.

I for one hope things look better so investors will invest and companies can start hiring again.
