Need help deconstructing a poll. Re: Is Faux News out to get Obama?
What an odd poll in the Orlando Sentinel today. I understand what they were shooting for – a sort of floatchart effect on a flat poll. Basically, the “Yes” votes for those who think that Faux news is out to get the president are divided thusly: One choice says, Yes, the personalities on Fox News are out to get him; and the other says Yes, Faux news is out to get him.

Frankly, I don’t know how you can split it like this, since one gives birth to the other.

The “No” options are further apart in opinion.

Anyway, for those who study these things, what does this poll say about the person who put it together?

1. voted. It's sad that over 37% of people (granted, this is Orlando)
think Fox News is not biased.

Seriously. I know people think this, but it completely floors and shocks me to try to wonder how, just as tea baggers actually believe Fox had nothing to do with the 912 events other than report on them.

I understand being biased toward friendly sources - I know I read a decent amount of Lefty blogs and such, but the difference is I am aware these are biased AND the good sites will always refer to other sources. The Right never seems to get that distinction; they quote crazy shit from newsmax and world nut daily and actually think those are the same as me quoting Kos - which again, I don't necessarily do without also referencing the primary source, often an international news org. Then again, these are also the same people who (because they were told so) think the media is mostly Left biased despite the companies being largely to the Right and the coverage itself being biased toward the Right with a few small exceptions like Rachel Maddow, Olbermann, and Ed.

Righties tell me how the news tries to sell socialized medicine, yet if that were true you'd think they would run more sympathetic stories which were pro-socialized medicine instead of non-fact-checked rebuttals 24/7 and a bunch of drug commercials which pay the bills.

7. Some people are opening their eyes.
I have a right-wing friend who thinks that someone who listens to Savage and the other boob is too far right. The consolation here, is that four years ago, the poll would have been 55% voting "No."

8. I think it's Orlando.
If you want to get a glimpse of the kind of mentality that exists here, find an article that involves someone accidentally shooting his spouse or roommate, or some child claiming she was raped, and then read the reader's comments. It's an awakening.

9. Orlando has a way to go. But, atleast it's going to be fighting against
the current to hold onto its ways.

5. They split the "anti" fox response on purpose
It is a technique used to manipulate the poll results. By splitting the "anti" Fox choices they know that the "pro" Fox question will appear to be the consensus choice when, in fact, it is not.

6. Right-wing trolls think it's unbiased?

This is why I hate you morons and will do everything in my power to destroy the right-wing.

Anyway, keep it up - the total vote count is low and easily swayed.
