Is it based on a military victory?

Is it based on US security?

Is it based on US interests?

Is it based on Afghanistan's human/women rights?

Is it based on a functioning Afghanistan government?

It may be a combination of some of the above and more. What do you think is his decision making process?

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear... and you can't make figgy pudding out of mud. He doesn't have a lot to work with there, but I'm sure he's thinking in all the terms you mention, and others.

One thing I'd bet on, the Nobel Prize will have NOTHING to do with his decision.

our motivations and reasons for being there change with each day. The war defenders look to anything to justify it.
