Kellogg's says laser-etched cornflakes are real

CEREAL giant Kellogg's has defended its laser-etched cornflakes as a genuine technology, not a hoax.

Kellogg's Australia says the announcement – involving lasers burning the company logo onto individual flakes of cereal – isn't a fake.

The food manufacturer's UK press office made the announcement yesterday on Twitter.

"Now you'll always be able to tell your Corn Flakes from your corn fakes!" it said, with a link to an apparently doctored image of individual flakes branded with the company's logo.

But the story seemed fishy – there were no official press releases yesterday, and international media reports relied on quotes from Kellogg's UK food technologist Helen Lyons, who is now on holidays.

Yesterday Ms Lyons said the hi-tech idea would combat imitation cereals by displaying the company's unique brand.

"We're constantly looking at new ways to reaffirm this and giving our golden flakes of corn an official stamp of approval could be the answer," she said.

7. Why is "The Onion" still in business? Because it's fucking hilarious! That's why.
You do realize it's a humor "newspaper", not a real one?

9. Yes, I know it's fake.
It just gets harder and harder to tell their stories from the real ones lately.

11. The last 8 years or so have been very hard on them.
Reality kept exceeding fantasy.

8. If Kellogg's would only use the same money to buy NON-GM corn for their flakes.

10. So this is where their profits are going?
I admit it's marginally more useful than another 7-digit CEO bonus, but...

Ah, well, I suppose they'll use the laser to run contests or something. "If your genuine Kellog's® cornflake has a picture of Elvis burned on it, you've just won!"
