1. I hope not
I think there's a very good reason why Senator Hutchinson has delayed her retirement. ;)

2. BS did you see her statement on the issue?
“As hard as Rick Perry’s office and his campaign may try to divert from the issue, this is not about one man or one case. The issue is Rick Perry’s heavy-handed politicization of a process and Commission established by the legislature to provide critical oversight. First, Rick Perry delayed the formation of the Texas Forensic Science Commission, then he tried to ensure it didn’t have funding and when all else failed, he fired everyone he could. The only thing Rick Perry’s actions have accomplished is giving liberals an argument to discredit the death penalty. Kay Bailey Hutchison is a steadfast supporter of the death penalty, voted to reinstate it when she served in the Texas House and believes we should never do anything to create a cloud of controversy over it with actions that look like a cover-up.”

She doesn't care that they killed an innocent man, she only cares that it will give "the liberals an argument to discredit the death penalty." DISGUSTING human being.

3. He did more than that
When the commission first started to investigate the Willingham execution, Perry sent a couple of his henchmen lawyers to warn the commission members that they were wasting the state's money on their investigation. In other words, they were telling the commission that if they continued to pursue the Willingham case, they would eventually be fired. Gov. Goodhair made good on his threat.

4. Stay with me
First, let me state, I do not want Ms. Hutchinson as my governor.

That being said, there are certain back-room folks supposing that when Ms. Hutchinson officially steps down, Perry will appoint himself as Texas' US Senator. That would be fine for Ms. Hutchinson as her intention is to run and win the governorship. However, if she were to abandon the office now, she would allow Perry to take her place while this horrid scandal hangs over both their heads. That would have a detrimental effect on her chances to win the Republican primary, much less the election.

In other words, IMHO, Ms. Hutchinson is waiting for Perry to fall on his sword, step down and then she can run against the lesser known David Dewhurst.

As for me, I'm a Hank Gilbert fan. I like that fellow:

8. Not in my eyes
Perry's political demise will be the killing blow to Republican rule in our fair state.

9. A "killing blow to Republican rule in our fair state"?
I really, really wish I had your optimism.

But then again, I live in the D/FW Metroplex. All of my so-called "representatives" are completely and thoroughly in the Republican cult. I have a stack of letters from them concerning a wide range of issues; almost without exception they are form letters that basically say "We've already made up our minds and nothing you write will dissuade us from following our Republican leaders, blah, blah, blah."

Now while you and I are able to see the madness, those that drive the SUVs still flashing Bush/Cheney stickers and the obligatory Jesus fish will never have their steadfast faith shaken, for they are believers and as such don't operate in the world of rationality and logic.

But, man, I hope you are right. I really do.

10. How is that possible?
I thought Dallas county was 100% Democratic? Are you speaking about your US representatives? If so, you ain't got nothing on me. I live in the Panhandle. However, I used to live in Dallas and I know the flavor of that town well. My guess is the Dubya lovers are the Highland Park types and while they get most of the press, they in no way represent the political will of the city.

11. I'm in Tarrant County
While there are still pockets that vote Democratic, every election since Bush took the governor's office has gone to Republican candidates.

The only area that I'd consider "blue" is Austin.

13. Well, Tarrant county is a different story
While I love Ft. Worth, they're very conservative there. Still, don't give up hope. Have you checked out this fellow?

12. Aren't they both just the worst? But while I think she's an empty shell,
just doing what her masters say so she can still be important, he is pure evil. Great offerings from the Party o' God, though, right?
