The Republican strategy for the elections of 2010 is already in place. The Minority Leader, John Boehner, let it slip yesterday. When asked to comment on the stock market crossing the 10,000 point barrier, he went into his riff about jobs. Jobs! Job! Jobs!!!

Like it or not, Barack Obama and the Democrats are stuck with this economy and the "jobless" recovery. It will not be enough to point to the stock market and the huge profits of Wall Street, including the bailed-out banks, to sway the voters to the Democratic side.

Granted, the economy was in free fall when Barack Obama came into office. Most of the blame could be placed on those same Republicans that are now ready to attack the Democrats for the lack of job creation. However, history shows us that the voters blame those in power when the unemployment rate is this high.

1. It's hard to believe anybody will buy their change of heart
because they never gave a damn about jobs before, passing legislation to give tax breaks to companies that sent jobs offshore.

Jobs, my lily white ass.

And that's how the Democrats need to answer them. Of course, it would be politic to repeal that incredibly stupid tax incentive to offshoring first.

2. It's the economy stupid can cut both ways
Obama need to shore up the dollar and find a few million decent paying jobs in the next 12 months or 2010 will be a blood bath.

6. I think you're probably right about that
but the PTB still haven't figured out that their dividend checks are smaller because the companies they hold stock in lack customers. It will be very difficult to get a jobs program started.

Shoring up the dollar isn't as necessary as getting people back to work rebuilding the infrastructure. I think once the dust settles on the health care issue, that's exactly what he'll try to ram through Congress next.

Good luck to him and the Red Sox.

7. Health care, if it passes will take 1 to 3 months he does not have the time
to wait. And neither do we.

5. Most elections are not about rewarding people
Most elections are about punishing people. Do you believe the democrats are in power because people believed they had better ideas, or do you believe they are in power because they were angry at the Republicans.

8. "they never gave a damn about jobs before" true, but since it's becoming apparent that...
many Democrats don't give a shit about jobs either, our party's advantage on this topic is eroding.

3. History repeats itself
and just like in 1994, a lot of the people that are going to be out on their ass are the moderate blue dogs who have stood for nothing but their Rahm Emmanuel issued orders on what issues they are for and against to appeal to their swing district electorates.

For the most part, the more progressive members have nothing to worry about, they are generally in safer seats. It's going to be the blue dogs that are going to be scratching their heads the day after election day.

Assholes don't realize it doesn't matter how they vote, their fortunes rise and fall with the party as a whole.

10. People are being laid off on purpose
to make Obama and the Democratic Party look bad, and for no other reason.

My husband's company canned several people in his group the other day. Some for no apparent reason, and a couple because they had the nerve to question minor technical procedures.

13. Yes.
What's a few million lost jobs to them? They still get theirs no matter what.
