Bayh and Lieberman preparing to bolt on cloture vote
We need to start preparing ourselves for triggers in the Senate bill. The caucus isn't going to hold.

"Not vote for cloture? I wouldn’t rule that possibility out — not at all," said Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), who caucuses with the Democrats.

Evan Bayh was even more specific:

"It’s not fair to ask people to facilitate the enactment of policies with which we ultimately disagree," said moderate Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.). "So the closer we get to the end of the process, the more, for me, the process and policy will be one and the same."

Bayh is the key person here. He could bring Landrieu and Nelson with him and probably will.

4. Can Obama just lock Bayh in a room with Rahm
and tell Rahm, they aren't allowed to leave until Bayh learns to be a Democrat.

6. Wish he could.
But being a Democrat hasn't meant defending the peoples' interests against the corporations.

It has too often seemed to mean pretending to be bipartisan to get the cover needed to give in to corporate interests.

Otherwise, why would the President and his team have taken the most economical option, single payer, off the table before the debates even began?

8. Good point
Those two just might end up planning a coup if left in the room together for too long.

5. Will they then be honored like Olympia Snowe for their "courage
and seriousness of purpose" for voting against their party?

If we are all just eversoimpressed by Senator Snowe, we must just be thrilled that our Democratic party has so many Blue Dogs that are "courageous" like she was.
