Six-Year-Old Sells Her Toys to Aid Local Police Dogs
A six-year-old Virginia girl loves dogs so much she raised money to buy five bullet-proof vests for the Newport News K-9 division, MyFoxDC.com reported.

Kayleigh Crimmins got the cash by selling her toys on Craigslist. She received a standing ovation from the city council at their Tuesday meeting. Her mother told MyFoxDC.com this is just the beginning for Kayleigh.

"I think she's determined. I think she loves dogs," Lee crimmins said. "And there's no end to this. She's made that very clear."

The young girl also sells toys donated by friends, t-shirts and stickers.

Crimmins has made similar donations to K-9 forces in Maryland and North Carolina.

Some of her donations have gone towards other safety equipment for police dogs, including a heat alarm for patrol cars that alerts officers to rising temperatures that could be hazardous for their canine partners.

Good on her! And why is it that a SIX YEAR OLD has to do something that should have already been financed?

We are relying on elementary school students to fund projects the state should be fixing??

God help us all! SIX YEAR OLDS may be the bulwark against governments' destruction.

1. I love dogs myself, but...
But help the strays, not the pig dogs, so much. :D

2. She's 6 years old, and this is her mission.
I won't criticize her for helping any animal.

Hopefully she will expand her efforts. However, I don't want "pig dogs" to suffer either.

Snark sails right by me in the AM sometimes.

Edit to add: Like the "hounds tooth hat" in your avatar. I hope The Tide rolls over South Carolina like a tsunami.

6. Thanks!
Me too. It seems a lot like a classic trap game, but I remain confident.

Go Dogs! I'm not sure who Georgia is playing this week, but I just felt like saying that. ;)

7. SC is my mortal enemy.
I went to Clemson, and they aren't up to snuff to say the least. Bowden was a great recruiter, but a so-so coach. I still think the jury is out on Dabo, but he better get going. If he just beats the Gamecocks every year, he will keep his job. Kinda like Auburn vs Alabama. Shula got smacked for his problems there.

I don't fret too much about SC. "The Chicken Curse" will get them every time. It's already on Spurrier.

11. Shula's problems went much deeper than not beating Auburn
The following being said, I worry about Saturday night.

Alabama can’t blame bad luck. It can’t blame bad karma, or bad calls, or bad treatment at the hands of the NCAA. Not this time. Not when the same script was tried with the same heart-rending but utterly predictable results.

This time, the answer for Mike Shula can be found in one place: The mirror.

Alabama didn’t score enough points to win on the road against a quality opponent in Knoxville on Saturday. That happens to every team from time to time – but in the past four years, it has happened to Alabama every time. That’s Every Single Time. The Crimson Tide hasn’t gone away from home and beaten a team worth beating since Dennis Franchione’s 2002 team went to Baton Rouge and blew LSU out of Tiger Stadium.

Forget about the win at South Carolina last season. The reference here is to teams that matter in the SEC – Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Florida, even Arkansas if you want to make the tent big enough for the Hogs. Against every one of those teams, Alabama has played gutty, hard-nosed football – but failed to score enough points to win.

Since 2003, that has been 20 or less, every single time.

16. True about Shula.
However, I'll bet he wouldn't have caught as much shit if he had beaten Auburn.

I once bet the house on a SC/Clemson game. We were atrocious that year, but rivalry games are unpredictable.

SC was coming off a huge losing effort and Clemson had finally gotten a good win in. We were a brazillion point underdogs, but I was betting on the psyche of the teams and the rivalry. I cleaned up.

Saban might finally be the coach to bring Bama out from the shadow of the Bear. Bryant will always be there, but it takes a while to get over a change like that. A looooooooong time.

UCLA has been sideways since Wooden most of the time. Gene Barstow was a good coach, but he still got hammered. He finally left for UAB, and did a good job there. (I hope he recovers from cancer.)

And how did she manage to fund so many vests with her TOYS?

And what does she do when she is bored, without anything to play with?

Considering that she isn't likely to get full price for selling then on Craigslist.
