How many of these people can you name?
Edited on Sat Oct-17-09 05:40 PM by Fumesucker
This is the cover of one of my granddaughters' homework calendar notebook, it has a lot of famous people on it and she was flabbergasted when I named most of them (there are no numbers on the actual notebook).

My nine and seven year old granddaughters got A Lincoln, ML King,W Shakespeare and C Columbus..

The link to the site that has the cover with the names is below the picture.

Edited to add: Apparently there are some DUers that can't get as many as my granddaughters, this has got at least two unrecs in the last few minutes.

5- Don't know
8- Marie Curie?
17 - Issac Newton
18 - Runner with a artificial leg? ( not into sports)
19 - Darwin? ( can't tell what he's holding in his hand)

Of course I got 8 wrong, I seem to be the only person who knows who Marie Curie is.

#2 no american would know, unless you immigrated from the country.

32. Terry Fox is extremely famous in Canada
He was a young man who tried to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research, since he had lost his leg to cancer. This was back in the 80's. He never completed the run, since his cancer came back during the run and he died soon after. Every year all the schools around here hold 'Terry Fox' runs to raise money for cancer research.

51. Terry Fox was a Canadian who ran across the country to raise funds for cancer research.
He was a cancer survivor himself (hence the prosthetic leg). He died not long after the run.

43. Not praying, it's from this image...

And while Princess Diana was very concerned with clothes and other umimportant bunk, let's not forget the very good works she did do in her short life:

Such as hugging AIDS patients, back in the day when President Raygun wouldn't even utter the word and helping to bring global attention to the blight of land mines.

52. The caricatures are awful, and this is questionable as a test of knowledge.
In other words, I think I can only get about eleven of them.

Seriously, photos would probably be easier to identify, and a truer measure of what we know. I can guess who the black baseball player is, but that's the uniform talking.

53. I just posted it as kind of a goof..
I thought it was interesting that they would use such a cover on a homework calendar that was given out by a public grammar school.

My granddaughters and I spent a couple of hours Googling photos and matching with caricatures on my guesses and I took the opportunity to explain why each person was well known, I used it as a teachable moment and we had a good time doing it.

I'm not enough of a visual artist to really have an opinion as the quality of the caricatures, I had no problem recognizing about as many as you did.
