Two Secret Service Agents shot accidentally by fellow officer...
http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSN1744505020070417

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Two Secret Service officers were injured on Tuesday after a gun held by another Secret Service officer accidentally fired inside the White House gate, according to a spokesman, Darrin Blackford.

Their injuries are non-life threatening, the spokesman said.

One officer suffered a shrapnel wound to the face, and the other was wounded in the leg.

They were taken to George Washington Hospital.

1. But we are so much safer now
than we were then.

And guns are good, look at how these experts prove it.

4. So why were the Secret Service guns unholstered?
These guys don't make those kinds of mistakes. They just don't.
I wonder what REALLY happened?

8. Screw the tinhat. There's more here than just a simple accidental shooting.
Why was the gun unholstered?

If accidental, then why multiple shots?

I'm smelling a rotten cover story...

17. The gun being unholstered needs an explanation, I agree.
I'm not sure if there were multiple shots or not however. Depending on what the bullet hit first it is possible one shot could have caused both injuries.

If it happened after the Chimp left, who was in the White House at the time? Cheney?

27. It could be an accidential discharge
while the gun was holstered (but the safety was off) and that one bullet could have hit the concrete causing the concrete to fly and hit the one SS agent in the face and then it lodged in the other agent's leg.

It all could have happened with the gun in a holster and by sheer dumb luck.

That is why guns are so friggin dangerous, even the well trained can make a mistake.

16. More proof...
That cops, military and security personnel are more responsible and skilled with firearms than a civilian could ever hope to be, therefore they are the only ones who can be trusted with guns.

However, Secret Service does NOT make mistakes like this.
WHY were their guns unholstered?
That is very important because they don't walk around with itchy trigger fingers shooting each other, simply because the POTUS could come in the line of fire.
There was an incident of some sort that we aren't being told about.

23. There're virtually no details
Nothing to explain why the gun was unholstered and I'm not even clear on how many rounds were fired. I want to know what was going on that the was holding his gun in his hand first. Then I want to know how he came to discharge his firearm and how many times.

29. Agreed that it's a thin article...
I suspect one discharge through a body part, and a ricochet tags second officer.

These were gate guards, Uniformed SS.

Still leaves the question of why the weapon was unholstered or even if it was.

19. Written as if the gun fired itself!
". . .a gun held by another Secret Service officer accidentally fired inside the White House gate. . . ." along the lines of "I apologize if some were offended", instead of "I apologize to those I offended."

I wonder if this tortured phrasing came from the White House PR office, or some poorly educated reporter simply doesn't know how to write.

As I expect the NRA would say, guns don't accidentally fire themselves; people accidentally fire guns.

30. Migh-teeee peculiar. Sniff, sniff, snifff....Was Jeff Gannon around?
The Secret Service documented that notiorious republicon male prostitute Jeff Gannon
visited George Bush's White House over 200 times, including some overnights.

Maybe Jeffy the republicon White House Prostitute provoked this case of
"sloppy pistol handling."
