READY TO REVOLT: Oath Keepers pledges to prevent dictatorship in United States
Group asks police and military to lay down arms in response to orders deemed unlawful

<snip>

Depending on your perspective, the Oath Keepers are either strident defenders of liberty or dangerous peddlers of paranoia.

In the age of town halls, talk radio and tea parties, middle ground of opinion is hard to find.

Launched in March by Las Vegan Stewart Rhodes, Oath Keepers bills itself as a nonpartisan group of current and retired law enforcement and military personnel who vow to fulfill their oaths to the Constitution.

More specifically, the group's members, which number in the thousands, pledge to disobey orders they deem unlawful, including directives to disarm the American people and to blockade American cities. By refusing the latter order, the Oath Keepers hope to prevent cities from becoming "giant concentration camps," a scenario the 44-year-old Rhodes says he can envision happening in the coming years.

It's a Cold War-era nightmare vision with a major twist: The occupying forces in this imagined future are American, not Soviet.

8. I don't think many of them did really (and Oath Keeper founder is a Ron Paul guy)
I was reading similar things for years while bush was in office - they just did not make the press. Same thing with when Clinton was in office - I worked for a reloading company that also sold govt surplus and we had a large group of militia folks who did business with us - they didn't like the first bush or clinton either.

About OathKeeper Founder Stewart Rhodes

Stewart is the founder and Director of Oath Keepers. He served as a U.S. Army paratrooper until disabled in a rough terrain parachuting accident during a night jump.

He is a former firearms instructor and former member of Rep. Ron Paul’s DC staff.

The question is not - why were they asleep back in bush days, but why was press? They have, for some reason, connected milita folk/etc with dems in office and ignore them in other years.

11. I know a few Oathkeepers
They come from both sides of the spectrum.
I think its a case of two sides uniting against a common enemy-The corporatistas and there fascist agenda.
Both sides seem to be afraid of the turn for the worse that has occurred since Obama's election and all of the crazed hatred being directed his way.
Can you imagine the chaos that will erupt if Obama was to be assasinated? This country would be clamped down under martial law so fast if that were to happen that it would make your head spin.

20. These guys aren't defenders of liberty. They're seditionistas.
They sound like they're trying to re-live the glory of Jefferson Davis, Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee. They're misguided and angry without a cause except that they don't like the color or politics of the POTUS.

Watch these clowns closely.

They do have one thing right. There is indeed a need to keep a watch for all enemies: foreign and domestic.

25. If this goes beyond talk, I hope Obama has the stones to put the rabid dogs down.
There have been rebellions in this country before. The result has always been the same.
