Where do you get the balls...
Edited on Mon Oct-19-09 02:28 PM by Steely_Dan
So, I'm listening to MSNBC and I her something to the effect...

Corporations are using some of the bailout money to hire lobbyists to try and stop any additional regulations on their businesses.

Where do they get the balls to do something like this?! I am completely disgusted. First they use the money to continue paying bonuses to their employees, then this! What the hell happened? Wasn't this money earmarked to assist small businesses and people like you and I?

I have lost total faith in politicians. I am most angry with the Democrats. At least with the Republicans, I know what I'm getting...they are shit and will always be shit. With the Dems, I had hope. I had hope that they would stop the madness. But no, they are just as corrupt as the Republicans.

Many people put Obama and his administration in office. We believed that they would turn things around.

Are you telling me that they didn't see this coming? I did.

End of rant.

2. Most of us saw this coming
AIG gave 20 million dollars to the chamber of commerce, who than in turn lobbied against additional regulations, all while they were being sustained by the federal government.

6. Why didn't those who issued the bailout checks have the SPINE to demand concessions?. . .
Concessions on pay and behavior and a revival of the discarded rules and regulations intended to keep us out of these sorts of situations?

That's the more important question. Sleazy businessmen will act sleazy -- nothing new there. But OUR representatives should have been looking out for OUR interests. Instead, we just helped the loonies to right the bin and ensconced them again even tighter into their madness.

7. I Completely Agree...

Here's another thing...

I read somewhere where if the money was distributed to the people, every homeowner could pay off they homes. Of course, this would mean that the banks would not receive any interest. Can't have that.

Shouldn't our priorities be the housing crisis? After all, housing impacts almost every other aspect of our economy. I don't understand.

9. I Realize That Many, Many Du'ers Still Have A LOT Of Faith In What May
OR MAY NOT happen. I think I fell off the wagon some time ago, IF I was actually ever on. I was one who felt a twinge with Rahm Emmanuel! I guess he CAN get things done and is really GOOD at what he does, but is WHAT he does GOOD FOR US??

That's when things got wobbly for me and I've been trying to latch onto something since then. I KEEP hearing, "give them more time" but TIME doesn't seem to making anything much better! While I would consider what my husband and I make during the year as median or less, at least I'm still standing. But I have made concessions and will still do so. Our family has already decided that Christmas this year will ONLY be for the kids! And what THEY get will most likely be some MUCH needed money!

So when I hear "talking heads" saying things are getting better, I wonder how "better" is going to look after Christmas!

We ARE getting screwed by OUR OWN, and as it was said... at least you KNEW it with Repukes, but when you go out and work to elect people to REP-RE-SENT you, it WOULD be nice if they REALLY DID!! I'm NOT seeing it!!

And my fingers aren't crossed either! Sounds cynical, but I also wonder how much longer the Rah-Rah's will keep their fingers crossed! And may EVERYTHING I'm thinking and feeling be COMPLETELY WRONG!! That would be a WISH come true!

10. I know why most people would avoid...
commenting on this post. You have to admit the the Dems have thrown us under the bus. Go ahead and hang on to the "hope" thing. So far, "hope" is the last thing I believe in. Where is the spine to fulfill their promises. I don't expect ANYTHING from the Republicans. However, I did (once again) felt hope for our country. Now, I have no idea what to believe in.

13. The government uses our tax money to lobby against changes in the law
Ever wonder why legalizing marijuana seems like an nearly impossible task?

Government funds flow to agencies to convince people to vote against their own best interests.

Look at how much money the telecoms spend to lobby against regulations. Now look at your phone bill. Yep, you paid for that.
