Great moments in American journalistic/media history...
Rewind to election night Nov '08.

Barack Obama had just won Pennsylvania which gave him a lead in the electoral vote. But, he had not yet sealed the deal. He had a growing lead but still hadn't reached the magic number of 270.(I think it was 270, regardless).

At that moment, Ohio was still counting it's votes. It's polls had just closed and the nation held it's breathe awaiting the results. Most knew that at that moment, a victory in Ohio would have sealed the victory for Obama.

I was channel surfing between the 3 networks. MSNBC, CNN, FAUX. All eyes were watching and awaiting the election returns. I decided to watch FAUX for the first time in a long time.

What I saw will stick with me for the rest of my life.

Brit Hume, one of Faux's lead anchors was standing next to his big screen election touch screen thingy. He was giving every possible scenario of a McCain comeback.

Hume- "But, if Obama wins Ohio he'll win the presidency."

Less than 20 seconds passed when suddenly the faux tan and the remaining color drained from Brit's face and a sad look of pall appeared to come over him. Through his earpiece he heard the news. He looked like he just found out that a loved one had passed away.

In a suddenly depressed state Hume uttered..

"Ladies and gentleman, Barack Obama has just won the state of Ohio.

As I jumped out of my chair cheering and screaming that Obama had won, I also looked at poor Brit and thought..

Why Brit, it looks like someone just walked over your grave.

I cheered again.

I'll never forget that moment. I still remember the look on Brit's face like it happened yesterday.

I then flipped over to MSNBC just in time to see the announcement to the massive crowd awaiting at Grant Park in Chicago. The thundering applause, the tears of joy and victory, Oprah, and the feeling of new hope.

All great moments in American journalistic history. Great moments in American history, period!

2. I was going purely off memory. Thanks for posting that great vid.
Your right. I can't believe I forgot it was KKKarl alongside Brit. I knew someone was there with Brit but had forgot who it was.

Again, thanks for posting.

Captures on of my favorite moments in American history.

4. Ah, it was predicting that McCain couldn't win.
Yes, at that point we "knew" that -- but we still had to wait till the deal was sealed: on the West Coast.

3. As I recall, it was when the polls closed on the West Coast that the election was called for Obama.
Just seconds after they closed, MSNBC and others so announced.

Then they cut to Grant Park.
