On the Public Option could this quote by Sen. Tom Harkin make more sense?
“There are 52 solid Democrats for the public option,” said Senator Tom Harkin, the Iowa Democrat who is chairman of the health committee. “Only about five Democrats oppose it. Should the 52 give in to the five? Or should the five go along with the vast majority of the Democratic caucus?”

3. Seems like the majority of Dems on the right side of an issue always end up
captiulating to the small minority of corporatists and conservatives in the party. I don't believe for a minute that the same won't happen this time around. I'll stop believing when I see Reid and the others behaving differently.

It's odd to me that when the Republicans were in the majority, they acted like it, never seeking bipartisanship for bipartisanship's sake; never watering down their bills to satisfy a small Democratic minority of members who may think as they do. They went with their principles.

The Democrats, on the other hand, seem content to allow a small minority of Democrats who represent very small states/populations dictate public policy for the vast majority of us who clearly want a public option.

Again, I'll stop believing that the Dems won't capitualate when they actually STOP doing so!

Same here. The Dems always reach across the aisle, no matter if they're the majority or not. The fact they pull back a bloody stump missing the hand should be a good indication that the GOP doesn't want to play fairly, or play with the Dems at all.

That's when I say slam the door and tell the GOP to go take a hike!
