The latest edition of Politico's "Get To Know A Congressman" series features Rep. Gregg Harper (R-MS). In the interview, Harper was asked about the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus, which advocates for hunters and fisherman in Congress:

POLITICO: What in the world does the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus do?

HARPER: We hunt liberal, tree-hugging Democrats, although it does seem like a waste of good ammunition.

I just broke up with a friend of several years over political differences. She was a wingnut who essentially went off the deep end when Obama got elected, and said something that really pissed me off the other day and I told her off. We've all had ass-hole acquaintances like this. You know, the guy who talks shit, but would be the first one hiding under a table in a bar-fight. That would be, of course, after he started the fight!

sometimes I get a black eye, sometimes I have given one. Recently a twentysomething guy started verbally abusing two old couples (men in 60s with women in late 40s early 50s) because they had accidently stepped on the shirt he had left on the street half an hour earlier. He called them dirty whites, dirty French etc. finally the woman had enough and took him by his shoulder like one would to their kids and told him to calm down. He punched her in the face and spit on her. I jumped right up fists clenched and told the fucker to leave or be removed (the lady was not hurt because his drunk ass punch had no force in it). I find that if you are the first to jump in, other kind people back you up. When I turned around I noticed half a dozen thirty and fortysomethings like myself staring the guy down. Most of the time biggots are just full of hot air, as is this biggot Harper.

This lib has more guns than I could shove up a republican's ass, and I could cram quite a few. Bring it on chicken shit.

I was 5. My father bought my a 38 special the day I was born. I moved up to shotguns by 10. Assault rifles before being 15 and after all that finally got some practice in on hunting rifles, but I prefer the recoil inside a good AK 47. You can shoot way more times without getting a sore shoulder. This asshole can try hunting people like me, but if I aim better than they do they will be fucked. I have also had cops hold a gun to my head and treaten me and managed to tell them to "just do it, you aint got the balls, pull the trigger asshole". Fucked with their heads good I did. They expected me to be scared and did not know how to react when I stood up into their gun and told them off. I re-barreled a Yugo M48 with a pre-war hand-lapped 8x57 barrel. It's ugly but a superb shooter. Been saving a bunch of WWII issue projectiles. The hair of the dog.

What's usually describe as a 'good' bore is barely shootable. The surplus Yugo 8x57 ammo available shoots well but the primers are very corrosive, thus, the badly pitted bores. If you get one with a great bore, use only non-corrosive commercial ammo. The best is Nosler with the 200 gr Accubond. It's expensive but worth every penny. Beware of Olympic 8x57 180 gr FMJ. It's good ammo but very hot. It will kick like a mule. Check your headspace first.

I bought a few on Ebay before I found the one I used. It had been removed from a pre-War K98 but the bore was new. It miked out exactly .323 and the lands and grooves had been polished to where it left no visible machine marks on the projectile. (hand lapped)

I live in a very red, very rural area of The South.
I have several very Liberal friends up in these hills (Ouachita Mtns, Arkansas).
Since the Obama election, we have made it a point to hold occasional "Target Practices" on each other's property just to let the neighbors know we are armed and have lots of ammo.

It makes me crazy that sportsmen get so excited about their paranoid delusions concerning their guns that they never seem to think about protection of natural resources, maintaining public hunting grounds, etc.
