6. When he talks about the Hessians, he really means the U.S. federal government

He keeps saying that we shouldn't interfere with a sovereign state. By sovereign state, he's clearly referring to secessionists or those who rebel against the federal government. When he talks about having to fight foreign powers, the subtext is our federal government. These guys are sinister, I think.
