Frank Gaffney to Ron Reagan: "Your father would be ashamed of you."
Edited on Thu Oct-22-09 04:38 PM by mb7588a
From Hardball, 10/22/09:

Gaffney: "Your father would be ashamed of you."
Reagan: "Oh, Frank, you better watch your mouth about that, Frank."
Tweety: (closes segment)
Reagan: "I'll see you later, Frank."

That's low, Frank.

On edit, here's a little bit about Frank Gaffney:
- Part of PNAC
- A birther.
- Believes Obama will bring Sharia Law to the U.S.
- Believes Obama is Muslim.
- Believes Saddam Hussein's Iraq was involved in the 1993 WTC bombing and OKC bombing.
- Still believes Saddam Hussein's Iraq was a WMD threat.

1. That just prompted me to get up and write a post about it.
That's shameful. What a despicable fucker.

He was outright LYING, and no one would call him on it. He said that we went into Iraq because it sponsored terrorism and had access to WMDs, yadda yadda, and no one called him on it. When someone just outright spewing bs like you, you say something. Fuck being polite. He was outright LYING.

14. I think Ron Reagan was calling him on it all over the place - I thought he (RR)
was downright masterful! Tweety just kind of sat back and was quiet because Gaffney and Reagan were all over each other.

23. I think Reagan was too polite.
And Matthews was too quiet. Usually Matthews would call someone out on their shit, but he just sat there and smiled. When that guy said that Reagan's father would be "ashamed of him," I was astounded that Matthews didn't say something. That was beyond low.

If I were Matthews, I would have said that that was inexcusable, completely uncalled for, and told that man that he would never be on my show ever again. Oh, and good riddance.

24. Tweety said "that's not fair" when Gaffney said that about RR's father - you could
tell he thought it was uncalled for.

It was my impression that Tweety kept silent during the exchange because RR wasn't pulling any punches (like calling Cheney a war criminal) and wanted to let him roll.

I'm referring to the rest of the debate, not just when Gaffney said that. I think RR handled THAT statement just fine. If he'd gone ballistic, he'd be getting flack for it from THEM. He let his displeasure be known, but did it in a classy way.

IMHO, natch. :7

4. Yet another of the 999 reasons I don't watch that show
Tabloid confrontationalism.

When they're not shouting over each other, that is.

6. No Gaffney, Reagan would be ashamed of you and probably ashamed
of the modern GOP.....that is how far down the road you've gone.

And to say that to their hero's son.....what a miserable piece of garbage.....and of course, Tweety let him get away without a word of apology. Too bad Bob Herbert is going to be on the next segment.

13. When he said it, Tweety said 'that's not fair' - he didn't like it. I think Ron R went
to town on that segment. You could tell he was passionate about it. Not only enraged about Scooter and Rumsfeld but he called Cheney a war criminal. He did great!

That's why they resort to ugly personal comments like this one.

may have been a A-hole of the highest order, but I have no doubt he was always proud of his son. And no asshole has the right to put opinions into the mouth of a dead man, and lay claim to how he thinks a father would feel about his son. Fuck you "Gaff"ney!
