I can't find a link but does anyone else remember after 9/11 Bill Clinton ...

... made it back from Australia after the attack in time for the evening news on either CBS, NBC or ABC? And this was while Bush and Cheney were still hiding down in some bunker together trying to get their stories straight.

Well, I will be honest, after watching Bush running across the country from one spider hole to another my wife and I were both pretty tensed up. I imagine a lot of people were. When Bill Clinton came on our TV cool, calm and collected it really helped my wife and I not be so tense. He definitely had a calming effect for both of us that day. We even said so to each other.

I remember posts here with links back then that someone at the White House called the network and told them to get Bill off the TV. They were concerned it was going to make Bush look bad. Because it did.

Anyone else recollect that incident?

I remember wishing that the big dog was still calling the shots as our un-fearless leaders were running around like chickens with their heads cut off, not knowing what to do next. If ever there were actions that showed involvement the actions by our p and vp that day were it. I want to see an investigation into the activities of a few days leading up to 911 and the days immediately after. Like the Kennedy investigation I had hoped for I guess this one will be like it, never to be.

Every spare fireman and police officer was gearing up to go to Ground Zero on our local streets. The buildings came down, the Pentagon was attacked and I thought to myself, "This is a war. If whoever this is attacks the Pentagon, then this is war." As the day wore on into the evening, I kept wondering when the President was going to tell us something. Well, Bill Clinton was the first president who spoke because the pResident of the WH at that time was cowering in some missile silo with the shakes (probably DTs). GWB earned my complete contempt that day. What a coward.

That is why Republicans flocked to him. He showed up while the Bush* Administration did not..Rudy looked good only by comparison not by any action he took..

it was very calming just knowing he was out there, while Bush and Cheny were hiding in a little hole somewhere. I actually felt safe knowing he was there.

So did Al Gore although he didn't go on TV. After Bush read a short note to us we didn't hear a thing from him for the rest of the day. Giuliani, on the other hand was on TV every hour giving us updates. We heard exactly zero from Cheney too.


I remember that day very well.

And sent one of the Air Force planes after his father too. One of the few things that I agreed with W about. Get the ex-prez's back into the country ASAP

President Clinton got an Image boost and Shrub got a license to work on his families passion ,Misanthropy.
