NAMES OF THE DEAD
Edited on Sat Oct-24-09 02:55 PM by grassfed
"Every year, more than 44,000 Americans die simply because they have no health insurance.
I have created this project in their memory. I hope that honoring them will help us end this senseless loss of American lives. If you have lost a loved one, please share the story of that loved one with us. Help us ensure that their legacy is a more just America, where every life that can be saved will be saved."
Congressman Alan Grayson

4. Such young people!
I can't believe the ages of those loved ones who have passed. So sad. Thank you Congressman Grayson for acknowledging that something is terribly wrong with our system.

6. Many people on the site died with insurance, insurance that
screwed them over when they needed it most.

also link to the PDF of HR 676 just so people can read about and maybe hope for in the future for a bill that really would work to end this negligent homicide on the part of this uncaring nation at times.

Michael Sidky writes:

Bob was a dear friend who committed suicide two weeks ago because he lost his Health Care. The Insurance Company canceled him because he was costing them too much, so his coverage was dropped. - Bob could no longer afford to continue his treatments because of obscene fees and could not afford to pay his bills also. He did not want to be a burden on anyone. He fell into a terrible depression which he kept a secret from his friends. A couple of weeks ago he got in his truck, took a short drive from his home and shot himself in the chest. It was a shock to us all.

...........

How many people do this and we don't hear about them. I am sure for every one there are many more who have the same story but don't know where or how to report them.

Thank you so much for posting and for Cong. Grayson for bringing these stories to light.

10. I posted a name yesterday
Three years ago my health care provider took her own life because she had no health insurance. She was a physician's assistant (PA) and had started up her own rural health clinic where I was one of her many patients. She was also a long time friend. She discovered a tumor in her uterus and we're all pretty sure that with all her massive debt with getting the clinic off the ground and all, she just didn't have the funds to face the huge expenses ahead with surgery and maybe cancer treatment.

It's the ultimate injustice.

11. K & R....
If they give us anything less than public options..it is time to light the torches.
It is past time that the insurance companies that are making such huge profits off our deaths and pain and misery...go the way of the dinosaur.
