I like the guy too but I'm not suffering any delusions. Both parties in the US took a sharp right in the 80s. The Republicans when batshit and the Democrats slowly moved to the right to do the job the Republicans have not been able to do.

Given the option between batshit and sanity I choose sanity.

Remember what Gore Vidal said about "two rights".

You can at least take comfort in the fact that the word that has become a slur is laughably non-apropos.

According to global views the Democratic party is the left, the center, and the right of center all voting to keep the power in the right of center and away from the far right. For a little Q.E.D. see that chart from the political compass above.

Personally, I'll be happy to keep the power away from the far right...but not satisfied that I am not having my (quite reasonable) standards whatsoever.
