Pilots who overshot airport weren't sleeping--now they say they were on their laptops--

They were doing crew scheduling on their laptops? Why would that make them unresponsive to continued attempts to communicate with them?

Sounds rather strange.

1. BS!
I still think they were doing something *inappropriate* in the cockpit.

Either they were having it or watching it on their laptops...the only sure-fire way to lose track of time.

7. No chance.
I fly a lot and I pay attention to the estimated flight time they give at the beginning of the flight. As it nears, I start looking for signs of approach. Now if *I*, a lowly passenger, do that, surely the pilots do, too. Especially if it's their normal route that they fly all the time.

I call total BS on this.

23. But going that long with dead air? No way.
They'd KNOW something was wrong with their frequency and they'd figure it out.

OH the IRONY... It HURTZ!!

Captain twittering: We just passed FL 290 going to FL 210, reducing speed to 0.67 Mach.

Co-pilot twittering: I just informed the captain our fuel at 18 zero zero zero pounds and reducing our speed to 0.67 Mach.
