OPEN THREAD: Speak your mind.
I am really looking forward to the Abu hearing on Thursday. Had a decent day. Had heart to heart with my sister. Been a while that was good. You?

21. the hardest part in a career transition is to realize
that anything is better than what you have now and less money or not, any change
will be better even if it's not the perfect career but a stepping stone, the universe
has heard you on this thread..

and is now working hard to deliver you new choices. you have to be brave enough to hear the new choices.
you cannot make any mistake so long as you remove the pain you feel in the current job.

i just left tmobile for cingular. i hated tmobile and I love cingular. you'll find that it's easier than you think.

she also is saying a guy named john lott who did a study on guns is a major crock of shit & the guy's partner, when put under oath, fessed up.

8. Okay, I'll admit that mine is weird...
The recent charging of a http://www.ktvu.com/news/12115739/detail.html">woman in San Mateo County with assault of a gay couple, using deadly vegetables (its amazing how much damage one can do with squash alone).

The woman denied it of course, but she could offer no explanation for the asparagus found in her purse when arrested. An alternative to pepper spray maybe?

Strangely, it occurred to me -- what if this starts a trend? We could end up fighting all of our wars this way. Its the ultimate solution.

We will have created a non-lethal way as an outlet for our aggressions, and feed each other at the same time. Why we could have whole divisions who just handle the dressings.

Just think of it! :P

A little yard work until the allergies drove me crazy, Truck goes into the shop for expensive repairs, but that's the way it goes. More money flowing out right now than coming in, but that's the way it goes sometimes as well. Saddened by the VT thing, but decided to keep the TV off for a few days. Weather is moderating...Work is silly, but it is an interesting show to watch the interactions of a bunch of cranky for no reason people.
Got a cup of coffee in front of me... Can't be all that bad.

42. There is nothing so entertaining
as watching my esteemed coworkers get themselves all worked up over trivial issues that are beyond all of our control. If we are told to do "A" simply do "A", if it's "B", do "B". The pay is the same and at the end of the day, we all clock out and go home. The cranky ones tend to be our workplace bullies who cannot seem to get over the idea that the workplace is not the same as it was 30+ years ago when they started. I just enjoy the show....

34. My beautiful uncle is dying
he is at the very end of an awful cancer that is everywhere now. He is the salt of the earth. My aunt has been so wonderful caring for him, he is the love of her life. I don't thing he is going to make it very much longer. He is such a proud man and won't take morphine drip yet. I feel so sad cuz I know he is in pain.

Life really isn't fair for a lot of people. Certainly not for my wonderful uncle. He retired at 60 to travel with his beloved wife, after years of working around the clock, only to be diagnosed with cancer 3 months later.

Say a prayer for him. Just for him to not be in pain. I would appreciate it.

46. Cool idea. Let me do this before I read everone else's ...
I think I'm finally emerging from the worst of my depression over the failure of my marriage and my divorce just over a year ago. I fell down pretty hard, and I'd probably be homeless right now if it weren't for my mom and friends. I haven't been able to work, and I have so much debt I can't really care about it any more. My credit's as ruined as it can be. The funny thing is that this isn't what makes me depressed - it gives me freedom. I can go in just about any direction now, if I can only pick one and do so. Unfortunately, I've always had a problem with committing to a direction - I like my options open.

Anyway, I have more hope than I probably should, and I feel pretty good about it.

52. I'm hungry
But lunch is cooking. Yay for being able to come home for lunch! :)

My pesonal life has been pretty good ever since I quit Arby's. So I'm fine personally, and all my sorrow is for the rest of the world, that other humans can't see that each life is equally precious.

It has been my dream to be a writer since at least second grade when I wrote "I am going to be a true story writer" at least three times in my journal, and teachers from kindergarten on up told me I should be a writer. I write a silly little Sims 2 series that is very well-received. I know I can do it. So this weekend, I'm thinking of starting to carve out at least an hour and a half out of every day for writing and see if I can manage to write a novel.

59. Packing up my house for my big move
next month. I haven't given notice at work because I need to work as long as I can and being at a place with mandatory staff reductions--it would simply cut my throat on the spot. However, my boss just put me on the schedule to cover a co-worker who will be out with surgery. I am going to feel really bad when I tell them I cannot do it.:(
I have learned hard lessons that you have to take care of yourself in the working world, but that doesn't make it any better.
I have phone interviewed for a job that sounds exactly like what I want, however, it is a job auditing hospitals across the country that could lead to hospitals that have defrauded Medicare being shut down. That makes me a little uneasy, but they shouldn't have defrauded them in the first place.:(
On the bright side--the local clothes closet and Freecycle should be happy with the tons of stuff I am giving away.:)

67. Lots of things...
Realizing that NOLA is much more expensive than Oklahoma and money is becoming really tight. Kinda upset at the level of racism (and other -isms) I see excused (and used) here by self-called liberals. Missing my friends and family. Feeling a little lost.

Happy things? I have a beautiful home. I have a partner who loves me and spoils me rotten, as it should be. We have a bevy of animals, including Voodoo, who can make anyone smile. About to celebrate one year in NOLA (despite the hassles and money, we do love this city). About to turn 38, which does not thrill me in the least, except it means that G-d has given another year with my loved ones.

Much better. Now, I will go sit on the porch and look at the stars.

69. I think I broke someone's heart. First time I've ever done that.
A hard decision, but I feel it was the right thing to do. The path which causes, at least for others, the least pain.

73. What an interesting departure from the norm
With all the depressing news I see coming from home (the USA) these days, what with
the massacre at Virginia Tech and the Supremely Right-Wing Court decision, I sometimes
wonder who's minding the store back there. Plus over here, my brother-in-law, a great guy
age 50 with a wife and a daughter just got diagnosed with a terminal brian tumor.

But I refuse to let all this crap get me down. The momentum is with the Democrats, if we
can manage to not devour ourselves before the next election, I survived a cardiac near-miss
a few years ago, and my wife is still cancer-free after 6 years.

I get to go back to the States on Sunday for 3 days to see The Freedom Toast's big live show
in Washington, although I have to be back here (Brussels in the case of next week) by Thursday.

I'm still waiting for ONE of the Democratic candidates to come out with some major statement or
position that will so blow me away that I'm totally swayed. The prospect of the right wing putting
up a nothing candidate doesn't reassure me that we win the White House no matter what. They put up
nothign candidates in 1980, 1984, 2000 and 2004, and they still won (in some cases by hook and crook
rather than legitimately, but that doesn't make me feel any better--worse in fact!).

74. I'm happy that Imus is no longer the subject, but unhappy for what it took
to get the news to stop talking about his firing.
