She says she and John have an unconventional love. He is being supportive to her in her illness. She wants them both to honor the "Death do us part" part.

I was angrybwithnher when she knew of his loose pants and hid it. But I have reversed course on that. I'd do most anything I could to help her.

2. this is horrible , there have been news of so many well known people
who have died too young this year.

i really do hope she has many years left in her. she looked great the last time i saw her but the same happened with Dana Reeve just a couple months or so before she passed away.

I was also angry with her abetting his coverup, given the potential consequences.

Who can be angry now? I wish her the best and a genuine miracle.

It seems like everybody I know is dying off. I have a niece whose husband has terminal lung cancer. He is doing well now considering he has anywhere from a few months to two years to live.

The daughter of my neighbor, who is about the same age as my niece's husband, 67, is terminally ill with throat cancer, which has spread to the lymph nodes.

I can hardly stand this stuff.

17. So sad. I met her in the campaign for Vice President with Kerry. She is a combination of
huge intelligence and overwhelming kindness, a real Mensch.

I can't have an opinion of why she abetted, but I was not in her shoes, and can't even begin to imagine the stress of the illness and the campaign and protecting the children and the fear of a newly diagnosed impending death.

He, now that's another story. I can begin to imagine what I would like to say to my former Senator. Yes I can.

18. this is sad news
I wish her peace. I wasn't really upset with her when her husband cheated on her. Every situation is different. Some marriages can be saved and some can't. If they are able to save their marriage and he is able to be there for her during her illness then I say good for them. It's a shame that her children may not have her around much longer. I lost my mom to breast cancer when I was three. I know how painful it is to grow up without a mother.

19. I hope she can beat this cancer again.
And regardless of what people think of him, I hope he can be there for her. If he can help her get through this, good for him.

At the very least, let him not cause her anymore stress while she is dealing with this.

Good luck to her.

23. No doubt she's hanging in there with him for the sake of her children.
They are certainly going to have more than enough to deal with without adding the upheaval of a divorce into the mix. All things considered, I'm happy to support her in whatever decision gives her the most peace in this thing.

It would be nice if he's come to appreciate the treasure he has in her, but I'd be surprised if he has. In my experience, skunks rarely learn to smell like Chanel.

26. I'm so sorry. She is a remarkable woman, & has known for a couple of years she won't see her littles
... graduate from high school. She was pretty upfront about the recurrence of her cancer: that any further treatments were only about delaying the inevitable for awhile. I speculate that her decision to stay with John has a lot to do with continuity of parenting for the two youngest, who have not done anything to deserve having their daddy kicked to the curb, if you follow my logic. It's what I would do in her shoes, anyhow.

I only wish her happiness in the time left, then safe passage and peace in her heart.

Hekate

30. "Cancer will probably win."
Unfortunately, Elizabeth is right. The fact that she had a recurrence means that the chemo did not eradicate the cancer. She is continuing treatment to buy more time.

"Oct. 26) - Elizabeth Edwards understands that she will ultimately lose her battle with breast cancer. But right now she's too focused on living her life to worry about dying.

"Cancer will probably win," she told WJLA-TV, ABC 7 in Washington, in an interview last week. "Why would I give it any more days than it may already take? That's the choice I make."

Edwards was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. She underwent a lumpectomy and chemotherapy. Then, in March 2007, the cancer returned. This time it had spread to her bones and was inoperable.

Now 60, Edwards told the station she no longer believes God will cure her -- only that he will give her the strength to endure..."

32. I searched for anything implying Elizabeth's cancer was aggressive and
couldn't find it. Her latest interview says nothing like that. She says, but she always has, that she expects the cancer to win but refuses to give it one more day than necessary. She does say she and john have a different kind of "love Story" than expected but it is till death do you part.I see nothing that indicates her condition has changed.

36. The recorded piece said nothing about her condition. The nooz anchor is who said the cancer .......
...... has become aggressive. The news anchor is one not given to hyperbole and rarely misspeaks. Mispeaking, of course, is possible. So is mishearing, but I am certain what I heard.
