Prosecutors Say She Did It It As Revenge For Fight Between Fourth Grade Daughters

NEW YORK (CBS) ― A Long Island mother is accused of posting a sexually suggestive ad on Craigslist urging older men to call a little girl in a twisted case of alleged revenge.

Social worker Margery Tannenbaum, of Hauppauge, is facing aggravated harassment and endangering the welfare of a child charges after allegedly giving sex-seeking men a 9-year old child's name phone number through the online posting. Her lawyer, Tad Scharfenberg, proclaimed her innocence after her court hearing Tuesday following her arrest last spring.

"She's a good mother, she's never been in any trouble before, she takes good care of her kids," he told CBS station WCBS-TV in New York City. "I'm defending her to the fullest, she maintains her innocence."

The listing was allegedly posted after Tannenbaum's fourth grade daughter claimed to have an argument with a 9-year-old classmate from her Smithtown elementary school.

Prosecutors say Tannenbaum, 40, then plotted revenge by listing the provocative e-mail address "lacethong23@yahoo.com," and then giving out the girl's first name and phone number when she received several responses.

... such actions that strike at the heart of sexual abuse always seem far more sinister when carried out by women, at least that's my subjective take on it...stemming, I suppose, from the type of gender propaganda I was raised with, namely, that women are supposedly benevolent extoller's of light and love, as where men are more prone to being uncaring, unconscionable, violent, etc ... and there's the sense of women generally understanding those social dynamics at play within the public mind, which can carry with it an unspoken sense of ... well, I dunno, it just freaks me out when I hear about something where women are involved with intentionally, specifically victimizing other women, especially when it's overtly sexual in nature.
