today a local radio announcer said that if a member of congress had a family member get really ill
and they did not have their great insurance the story would be totally different on the Health Care issue!

John Hewko’s op-ed … published in the Wichita Eagle last week … revealed his eye-opening experience with our health care system. The Washington attorney is a Republican who “did not vote for President Obama”. After leaving a federal government job recently, he started his own consulting business and applied for health insurance for himself and his family.

A 51-year-old cyclist and hockey player, Hewko doesn’t smoke or drink, and his most recent physical examination revealed his blood test, E-K-G, and other screenings were “perfect”. However, Hewko has “borderline hypertension” and takes occasional Advil for muscle soreness. The insurance company denied him coverage because of “pre-existing conditions”.

Hewko has four suggestions to improve health care in the U-S-A; mandatory insurance for all … subsidies for those who can’t afford the premiums … a prohibition against denying or rescinding coverage for “pre-existing conditions” … and meaningful tort reform.

Hewko’s story makes you wonder what attitude our elected officials would take about health care reform if a single one of them were ever to confront the real world the rest of us encounter every day.

2. true but the cool thing is that this is predominately a RW radio station
but I like their morning news show from 6 to 8 (except for their 3 minute "rush" update)

3. forgot to add his "thought for today"
Our thought for today is from Edward R. Murrow:

“Everyone is a prisoner of his own experiences. No one can eliminate prejudices – just recognize them.”

7. Pete Domenici's daughter had mental issues
and he demanded and got (maybe/maybe not) parity for mental to physical health. Yes, it all matters if it happens to them...Jane Harman is a prime example.
