1. According to jingoist proclamation it was won by early 2002.
BTW, It was only a battle in the greater war on terrorism.

12. And then someone smelled the Heroin
Seems the goal is to stop AQ from cashing in the heroin supply's, thus their cash crop they need for weapons & recruiting. I spent an evening looking at US troops in Afghanistan, Many of the shots are either in heroin fields or walking around the perimeter of the fields.

Seems to me there are some simple ways to end this so-called war, and we are just dilly dallying it.

4. I completely agree with your point. The overall goal seems to be keeping extremists away from
government power, but this is fairly vague, especially when people are dieing and being crippled for this goal.

8. Well, playing perpetual whack-a-mole doesn't seem like a winning game
And it doesn't seem like they are doing all that great, being that militants just stormed a UN house in KABUL right by the presidential palace, and killed 5 UN Workers.

3. No. There is no definition of what "winning" is.

If the goal can't be defined, you can't ever get there, can you? ~ (roughly Forrest Gump)

That's how it is with Afghanistan.

"State the purpose."

What is the 'goal'? WHY is the US there?

State the Mission.

If there is one, no one is saying' (probably b/c the public won't bear the awful truth RIGHT NOW....but after they *soften us up* some more....WELL, that's a different story then.....*rubs greedy hands*)

5. Win? Who "wins" a war?
In war, everyone loses.

13. Corporations aren't fighting.
They only win because our Congress lets them. They give it away.

6. The notion of declaring war is a loss from the git-go. Win at negotiating peacefully. Humanity wins.

9. so who is attempting to negotiate peacefully?
No one that I know of. So, unless you know of some party that is trying to 'negotiate peacefully', I guess we're in agreement that "humanity loses" through this Afghanistan 'adventure'.

10. The lack of a peacenik leader in DC has been a colossal problem for decades. Too many have died..
from 'Murican warpiggin'.

It's got to stop. I no longer trust or support our govenrment's war making powers. The people need to take that power from our government. How? It would take a constitutional amendment.

It's frustrating and has me considering voting for a left wing third party.

I'm fed up with Dem warmongering to the point of never supporting a Dem again if the party won't change our disasterous warmongering ways.

I'm not holding my breath waiting for that change.

11. Third party is an option
but of greater concern is that almost NOBODY is paying attention/adhering to the RULES of the Constitution of the United States of America.

The PEOPLE rising up/sending letters/e-mails/showing up at congress-critters offices' IS having an effect. Keep it up. Be LOUDER. That's what's *workin'* now.

15. Simple question?
When was the last time the US actually "won" a war?
I've heard about a lot of "Military actions" but when did they last come home with "Victory" in their hands?

17. Once again, how do we define victory?
Victorious both militarily and politically? I'd say Korea. Military win/Political loss? Vietnam. Panama? I don't know enough about that conflict. Gulf War I? I'd say we were victorious in our military and political goals.
