I think we should have a national vote on healthcare.
Screw Congress, both sides serve one and the same master. The Insurance Companies. Except for those who actually completed their cranial rectal extraction they all say its not what the public wants when every poll says the majority want a public option. But how about they have a special vote this November or even say in January or February that is only for this.

Have three options:
1. Single Payer Universal Healthcare (Medicare for all)
2. Robust Public Option that allows people to choose to either stay with their private plan or opt for the governments.
3. Leave it the way it is now.

See what would win. My guess would be number 2 my hope would be number 1.

13. Welcome!!! I dont remember a time when they were for the people.
I wish we had a true representatives instead of power hungry douche bags. The top 2% control everything and that makes no sense.

5. Where is the National Workers Organization when you need them?
Welcome. I would like to see a National Workers Organization with one voice. An issue like this could have been decided in January, and made corporations & congress aware of what American workers want. IF they don't get what they want, they shut down America for 5 work days. Whoever opposed the NWO would go on the list for removal at the next election. Eventually the manipulators will get the idea.

11. True, but the Constitution is an ever changing document.
They also didnt provide for black people to be free whole citizens, or for women to have the right to vote.

17. We should do it anyway, even if it's not legally binding.
Because at least then you would have the will of the people officially on record, and tools like BONER wouldn't be able to make bullshit claims like "Nobody ever called my office and told me they wanted a public option".

8. "Screw Congress" does not really work well in a Democratic Republic which is what we have.
We have no national referendums and considering how our national elections go this would be a disaster.

10. How about we vote 95% of them all out next round
And let those we vote in that they will be out soon as well if they don't do the right thing.

12. We have a Constitution in this country and that's NOT an option unless you want to amend it
(will never ever happen due to the difficult requirements imposed.)

14. I figured the peoples hands would be tied like that.
We can nationally elect a person to do what they want not what we want. Im sure that could happen on a state level though. I guess thats what the "opt-out' would be, unless its up to the governors of the states then its still not in the peoples best interests. The only sad thing is so many poor uneducated people watch Faux News and would vote against their own best interests like they always do.

15. states vary w.r.t. referendum. Here in FL you can only amend the constitution.
and it's hard. In CA you can pass statutes and it's easier. Some states you can't do either.

16. It just sucks that in a majority rule democracy the majority are told to sit down and shut up...
while the minority get to control the debate and create the plan. If our elected officials would listen to us our country would begin to get better. But instead those douche bags that had W stickers on their cars still get to hold us back.
