Democracy For America: Caucus Must Strip Any Filibustering Dem Of Chairmanships
Jillian Rayfield | October 28, 2009, 4:15PM

In an email today, progressive group Democracy For America called for Senate Democrats to strip any caucus member who filibusters health care reform of his or her committee chairmanships.

In an e-mail, the group said:

It only takes one senator of the 60- senator Democratic caucus to support a Republican filibuster to block the bill. It would be unprecedented. It would be a nuclear bomb on the President's top priority. And, some senators are already threatening to do it. Tell the Senate Democratic caucus it is time for accountability. Though the e-mail does not mention any senator by name, it is probably referencing Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT), who recently signaled that he would filibuster any health reform bill with a public option.

This would not be the first time Sen. Lieberman's chairmanships were at stake, as he faced similar threats right after opposing President Obama in the '08 election. Currently, Lieberman Chairs the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

2. When he campaigned for McCain
he should have been stripped clean of all his committees.
He came back all contrite and oh so apologetic. Now Harry
Reid has reaped what he has sown. Lieberman should have
been ostrasized because of his first party treason and if
he is not now, I give up.
