Who Dumped Goats At Industrial Park? Reward Offered For Information
NORFOLK, Mass. -- An animal welfare official in a Massachusetts town wants to know who apparently abandoned two goats in a local industrial park.

Norfolk Animal Control Officer Hilary Cohen posted fliers around town on Wednesday offering a $300 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who dumped the female goats, which were first spotted Monday in the town about 20 miles southeast of Boston.

<snip>

She tells The Sun Chronicle of Attleboro the goats were scared and a little on the thin side when she responded to a call from passers-by, but a veterinary exam found them to be in good health.

The town will keep the animals until they can be adopted.

travel around the area with their goat herd which are used to eat the grasses and undergrowth in large areas around the freeways. Our condo association used them to clear the area around the condominiums for protection against fires because we're surrounded by hills. They keep them confined to an area with a large movable and collapsible fence. The goats eat up all the vegetation in one area and the people just move the goats and the fence that surrounds them to a new area. At night the goats just slept there so they didn't have to be loaded up and moved every day.

It looks like a good little business and it's environmentally safe and even good for the animals and the clients. In about three days the tall grasses around the condos were gone.

6. I hired a herd of goats to eat the water grass and weeds in a groundwater recharg
I worked for a municipal government and we couldn't easily get mowers on the steep sides of the basins. So we hired one of these goat guys to leave his flock there for about a week. It worked so good we had them back the next year. Unfortunately the fencing the guy put around the herd got knocked over and two or three of the goats got loose and wandered across the street into a residential subdivision where they snarfed down the flower beds of a couple of citizens. The pissed off property owners called the mayor who called my boss the city manager who came and told me to get those mothaf@#kin goats out of that mothaf@#kin basin. So that ended the great goat experiment, but we still used them for weed control at the municipal airport.
