point on Joe Lieberman he said: Joe Lieberman wants us to send tax dollars to a Israel who happens to have a government run health care system, but he doesn't think the American people are good enough for the same kind of system Israel has. He also said he won't compromise anymore in favor of the insurance industry.

They've already paid into Israel's system, after all.

And they also now have single payer healthcare, funded by US taxpayers.

...doesn't have a problem with our sending hundred of millions - if not billions - to Israel is that, as the Senator from Tel Aviv, he gets millions of those dollars back and stashes them away in off-shore accounts every year.

Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge the Iraqis one bit, because after we've absolutely devastated their infrastructure and killed/maimed/injured hundreds of thousands of their civilians, it's the very least we can do. It's just a question of why we can fund 'socialized medicine' (sic) over there, but not at home.

It's been pointed out before, but those who have funded the war in Iraq and were adamant about being against government-run healthcare have a slight problem in their moral consistency.

Why aren't these same people, who are resisting government-run healthcare, not about to change the Iraqi Constitution as well as taxpayer-funded appropriations to make it so?

Article 31 of the Iraqi Constitution:

"First: Every citizen has the right to health care. The State shall maintain public health and provide the means of prevention and treatment by building different types of hospitals and health institutions.

Second: Individuals and entities have the right to build hospitals, clinics,or private health care centers under the supervision of the State, and this shall be regulated by law."

Iraqi Constitution, written by the US calls for Govt. run health care for it's citizens, and Americans will be paying for it! What's wrong with this picture?

Iraqi Health care! Chapter 1 Rights and Liberties, Article 30-31


Article 30:

First: The state guarantee to the individual and the family -- especially children and women -- social and health security and the basic requirements for leading a free and dignified life. The state also ensures the above a suitable income and appropriate housing.

Second: The State guarantees the social and health security to Iraqis in cases of old age, sickness, employment disability, homelessness, orphanage or unemployment, and shall work to protect them from ignorance, fear and poverty. The State shall provide them housing and special programs of care and rehabilitation. This will be organized by law.

Article 31:
