MASSIVE Failure of TurboTax Servers

The issues we have experienced on our efile servers have been resolved. All efiled returns are now going through normally. If you haven’t already done so, please resubmit your tax returns now. If you have already filed, you can now check status for confirmation that it has been received. If you do not get a status, please post a reply to this message and we will contact you offline via email to determine your status.

Also, we are working with the IRS this morning to ensure that returns will be considered as timely filed even if transmitted to us past the filing deadline of midnight last night.

1. I have (happily) used TurboTax since the last century and predicted that
their "use-it-for-free-online promo was asking for trouble. It was predictable that so many people would hit SEND at 11:59pm and over-tax (pun intended) their server.

Did mine early, submitted electronically, and got my refund on Valentine's Day. Lesson - don't wait 'til the last minute.

A similar problem is coming since the NIH has gone to all electronic submissions for grant proposals.

Will Americans ever learn, anything?

8. I always have to pay. That's why I wait until the last minute.
I don't want to government to have my money any sooner than necessary.

2. Thank goodness we didn't use their E File!!!
We just printed out our returns and mailed them! My spouse will be as relieved as I am. Doing it ourselves was stressful enough!

4. shoot! I can't tell if mine went thru. I hope so. There's no way to
resend it from what I can tell (it tells me I've already submitted them).

7. Bad experience
I've had a bad experience before with Turbo, and I don't trust it. As for e-file, I always send in my return by snail-mail, certified to get a receipt. It's a habit and it also provides employment for Newman, the mailman.
