Well, there are those who believe that Ed Brooke could never had been Senator from Massachusetts if it weren't for my Father. In a dusty tent in Worcester Massachusetts in the Summer of 1962, my dad deified the Republican establishment and challenged the vote of the convention. The first ballot vote that was to go to Elliott Richardson for Attorney General fell just a handful of votes short. As the second, third and fourth ballots ensued, Ed Brooke put my father in charge of his convention long shot attempt. The stories of that night are legendary in my family, and Brooke won on the tenth ballot and became Attorney General, always crediting my father for that convention win and his courage. My dad and Ed Brooke became the closest of friends. Later, Brooke became US Senator and my dad was an Administrative Assistant. I relate this story because of what Larry O'Donnell said a couple of nights ago. Below is a link of the thread that I posted on DU in September of last year while I was campaigning for Obama in New Hampshire. Below that is a link to the recent O'Donnell remarks. To paraphrase O'Donnell, if it weren't for a Senator Ed Brooke there would be no President Obama. And to Paraphrase Ed Brooke, if it weren't for my dad, there would be no Senator Brooke. You be the judge of my hyperbole
