2. I remember very strong calls for gun control in 1968 after MLK and RFK were murdered . . .
not much came of it then, and not much will come of it now . . . still, you have to wonder what society would be like today if we HAD instituted strong gun control back then and really worked to make it happen in the ensuing years . . . that's almost 40 years during which the gun culture could have been changed, if only we had had the will . . .

5. Not true...
The Gun Control Act of 1968, (GCA68), was passed which requires the current 4473 form to be filled out with each purchase as well as basically every regulation that we have in place today...It is still current law.

4. I think the reason is pretty obvious by looking at US history.
The US is still mentally a frontier society.
