The Pitchfork crowd
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 07:39 PM by DainBramaged
They have taken over the once staid Republican party, and they are angry. angry their country isn't White anymore. Angry that technology in all forms, from microwave ovens to yes, self-serve checkout scanners is beyond their capability for understanding. They believe that medicare isn't Socialized medicine, but THEIR right and privilege. They don't understand that the roads, police, fire department are all part of that grand scheme going back one hundred years called Democracy. They don't want to be helped, but they don't want any of their 'freedoms' taken away. yet they have no idea what freedoms they have lost, other than youth and vigor and the capability for clear thought. Led by circus clowns, they will flounder like a rowboat with a broken oar.

The pitchfork crowd, small victories tonight, the end of the GOP tomorrow.

2. This is just so stupid
on so many levels. Get out of du a little and meet some people. This kind of stuff just creates more heat and less light.

8. I approve of every single American having a voice,
whether I agree with what that voice is saying or not. Just throwing insults (and those based on terribly one-dimensional stereotypes, at that) does no good, advances nothing.

10. We're DU, we can insult freepers and teabaggers and Pitchforkers
all we want, so there. And being quiet lost us control of Washington for 26 of the past 29 years.

How many townhalls or protests did you see with people yelling about their freedoms being taken away? Ask them what freedoms they lost and they can't name one. I've got lots of friends and coworkers who are proud republicans and they really don't know that Medicare is "socialized" medicine. They do see it as their right. They want help when they, or someone in their family needs it but the hell with anyone else who needs help. They think the countrys troubles are caused by "illegals" and (the ones I know, at least) have a streak of racism a mile long...which is why they HATE Obama.

Unfortunately, many republicans share most of these characteristics.

34. A lot of townhall protesters had corporate ties
A lot of townhall protesters had corporate ties to insurance and heath care services. Don't be fooled into thinking those protests were other than about maintaining the status quo of 2 million inurance related jobs.

I don't like demonising other Americans any more than I'd appreciate being demonised. That's why Bob Beckel is among my fave Dem pundits.

15. Does that voice include Republicans throwing up legislative roadblocks
to every piece of legislation the House and Congress propose, and blocking every appointee because they don't deserve the right to speak?????

Give me a break.

31. huh. You're right.
You can call anybody anything. And you're right, I don't have a lot of posts. Silly me. I've said several times in the past month or so that I keep thinking du is a place for a real exchange of ideas, and I just don't get the wild insults... So, once again I'm thinking I'm probably in the wrong place. Sorry guys.

36. There are and have been a good chunk of anti-Democrats
They are pretty much tits on a boar but pretend to be both the base and not concerned about party.

Its like riding the teacups at Disneyworld with some of them. Their enemy is power so they could more or less function until we started getting some hand on the wheel and then they turned. All the handwringing like we've been fucking them over for the last 30 years. The not a dimes worth coalition can sit and spin in Dick Cheney's corner of hell.

33. The GOP won't die

and I wish people would stop saying it. ( my superstitious nature )

It's a multi-headed snake of hate and privilege, and it will come back somehow, someway, and we have to be there watching a waiting to pound it back into the ground like that pop-up game.

Besides, they seem to be winning a lot in the laws that get passed, such as for the wall st crooks.
