Dear Harry Reid, I heard you had a stroke, and recovered, what about us?
Dear Harry,

I understand that you had a stroke not too long ago, so sorry. But because of us you were afforded the best care available and have been able to return to a full productive life.(productive part being very questionable). So I was pondering on the thought, what would happen if I had a stroke? I am in my fifties, have a wife in her forties and 2 college bound teenagers. I am self employed and there is no extra cash for health insurance in todays market. I was really hoping you might at least give me an affordable option. GOD FORBID free health care like yours, that would be socialism. OOPS! I accidentally just defined socialism, what is good for one is good for all. But I diverse, back to my original thought....

Should I suffer the same vascular emergency as you I will at best probably be paralyzed on one side, drooling and in the care of loving relatives who will sacrifice productivity and enjoying life to care for me.

Somehow this seems wrong.

Harry, the Dem leader, suffers stroke and receives best care in the world, then continues to lead a productive(sic)life.

DB1 the Dem voter (his whole damn life) strokes out receives no care due to lack of insurance and becomes a strain on his family and society.

Please Sir Harry, all I ask for is a strong public option tied to medicare rates so I won't be a burden on the capitalistic model you thrive off of.

4. Yes send it, my phone calls don't seem to help, although....
I am uncharacteristically proud of my Senator Cantwell lately, even though she usually is just grandstanding.

6. Sounds good to me, on a side note....
How does a thread like this get unrecommended? My daughter was all excited it went to four and then it went to three and she was quite puzzled.

9. Members can Rec/Unrec but only once...

I think you're up to 10 now...;)

ETA: Make sure your daughter looks at the # of times a post has been read, that is a much finer calibration as there is. Rec/Unrec and postings have their purpose, but most people read, respond/don't respond at their leisure. What matters is the # of "reads", that shows the message getting out and about...:hi:

8. It has always amazed me that somehow, people are incapable of empathy...
How can someone go through life w/o a clue as to how anyone else lives, (or dies) in this world?

I read where Michelle Obama is working w/girls to get them a better chance at an education. She spoke of being on the 4oth floor of a building in a law firm looking down into the streets and seeing the pain of so many, and she was so fortunate.

Where are the writers of the days gone by when we would learn of the horrors of war, poverty, child labor, and a host of other hellish ailments of "society"?

Where are the Dickens', the Hemingway's, the O. Henry's...those that could see through the eyes of others, put pen to paper and change a little part of the world?

Fortunately, many, like you, are here at DU, and doing your part to help alleviate some of the hell people live in because of others greed and avarice.

As to how Harry acts the way he does is beyond me, he seems like an unlikely sociopath, but his actions dictate otherwise.
