Last night Anthony Foxx won our mayoral election, first time in 22 years we have a Democratic mayor. To me it's good news. Not only is he a Dem, but he is a black man who beat the white Republican with 3,000 votes.

We went to vote and were met with three people from the Republican party - they asked if they could help us and wanted to give us something about the Republican contender. They almost fell over their own feet to back away from us when we told them we will be voting Dem

It was such a good feeling

5. Congratulations.
I'm from Raleigh. I'll put aside the city rivalry for the time being.:)

3. Thank you for posting in GP, Christa.
Nice story, too. I lived in Charlotte when Harvey was mayor. Couldn't believe how it has gone since then.

Wat

4. That's amazing! I spent the year 1980 in Charlotte and
at that time I still saw ads in the Observer "Apartment for rent, whites only" and when I registered to vote, one of the questions I had to answer was if I believed in Jesus Christ as my personal lord and savior. I lied.

Sounds like Charlotte has come a long way baby!

6. Hell yes! Go Foxx!
Anthony Foxx is a rare honest politician and I can't wait to see how well he does in Charlotte.
