Mark Kirk (R-IL) asks for Sarah Palin's endorsement in Senate race becomes laughing stock of IL
Edited on Wed Nov-04-09 05:10 PM by wndycty
From Rich Miller's Capitol Fax Blog:

* I’ve been hearing that Mark Kirk was about to move sharply to the right, but asking for a Palin endorsement? Really? Wow…

Um, I don’t think the Chicago media will be “focusing” on the Kirk-Palin “issue” when she comes to town for her Oprah show. They’re usually mainly focused on ogling Oprah. Somebody is a bit too self-centered, methinks.

Also, the Chicago political media has historically been one of Kirk’s most loyal constituencies. They’ve helped brand him as an independent, liberal Republican. Getting Palin’s nod won’t endear him to those types at all. This looks beyond bizarre to me. Is anybody over there thinking about the general election? Is anyone thinking about how McCain/Palin got stomped here last year?

I’m really stunned by this remarkable display of brazen pandering. I guess I shouldn’t be so suprised, but I am.

1. LOL
What an idiot. Kirk stood a good chance if he could pass himself off as a moderate. If he is going to try and Palinize himself, he's screwing himself over.

4. Don't laugh. They're at least running someone in Illinois. They're crazy, but they BELIEVE.
Are we gonna run someone in Texas? Or in Oklahoma? Or in Wyoming? If we do, will we finally put some real muscle behind those candidates? It doesn't matter if you win or lose; we have to go out and make our case. The most goddamn frustrating thing about being a Democrat is that so many of our liberals don't know how to market our (admittedly more complicated) ideas to the public. We don't make the case. We start our arguments by conceding half the points that Limbaugh and Hannity and that raving rhesus monkey make. We have to quit surrendering the initiative if we want to see the paradigm shift to fixing the country's problems.

7. obama's previous senate seat has a very good chance of going repuke in 2010.
between the prickishness of blago, and the assholeness of burris- the dems have a pretty hairy taint to deal with in illinois, in regard to that senate seat.
