5. Probably because some airlines
have First Class dress requirements.

My SIL would fly first class when her retired pilot friend would give her passes. She couldn't wear her usual shorts and t shirt atire.

49. That's most likely because she was flying on an employee pass
The mother of a friend of mine worked for an airline and my friend would have to dress up to fly on her passes, regardless of first class vs coach, simply because she was using an employee's guest pass..

31. Not true.
http://naturistaction.org/StatesFrames/State_Laws_Frames/New_York_Laws/body_new_york_laws.html

"§ 245.01 Exposure of a person. A person is guilty of exposure if he appears in a public place in such a manner that the private or intimate parts of his body are unclothed or exposed. For purposes of this section, the private or intimate parts of a female person shall include that portion of the breast which is below the top of the areola. This section shall not apply to the breastfeeding of infants or to any person entertaining or performing in a play, exhibition, show or entertainment."

We're not including breastfeeding here, that's a whole 'nother discussion.

Why does it bug you so much to be wrong? Get over it. You just are.

http://www.naturisteducation.org/Toni_Egbert_Library/State_Supreme_Courts/NY_v_Santorelli/ny_v_santorelli.html

`should not be applied to the noncommercial, perhaps accidental, and certainly not lewd, exposure alleged'

A very specific incident.

Now, if you're a female, take off your top and try walking down Lexington Ave. I'll give you a block and a half before you're arrested for "lewd" behavior.

It's not that hard to figure out.

37. You don't get to NYC often , do you?
There are regular "topless demonstrations" in central park. they often extend out to various parts of the city. The court case is clear. Unless it is a commercial enterprise, or done in a "lewd" manner, female toplessness is quit legal.

Airline policy is extremely vague.

Now, what if you were at the airport, all ready for a well-deserved vacation, and somehow you manage to piss off the gate clerk.

He/she decides your dress isn't appropriate. Find a different airline?

48. No
You speak with their supervisor and have them show you which part of their policy, that you signed, that you are violating. Correct the situation, get on with your vacation and decide for yourself if you wish to give them your money in the future.
OR
you can do what most people do, bitch and moan while waiting for someone else to take care of the problem for you.

Sorry, but sitting down only gets you ran over and having the balls to prevent it has NOTHING to do with what little ol Ayn said.

I only fly about 20 times a year, so no, I do not fly that much. But I can tell you that all three times I have asked to speak with a supe, I spoke with a supe. But then again, I don't FEAR some "evil" corporation and blame them for all my failings eithers.
I also use what people call commonsense, something that those seeking attention, who make up most incidents, lack.

32. I've sat close enough to first class to be able to see it
and I've seen business suits, name brand track suits, shorts as though there were a tennis court instead of just free drinks, and everything in between. I've even seen jeans and cowboy hats when the flight eventually went to Las Vegas.

Appropriate dress in first class is clean, clothed, and comfortable.

They need to focus more on appropriate behavior. First class seems to be home to the most loud drunks.

42. Bingo. Appropriate behavior should be enforced, but many FAs are afraid of confrontations.
and I don't blame them these days. They aren't paid enough to deal with some of the stuff they witness regularly. I was on a flight last week and got to chatting with the FA, and he gave a couple of examples of what they have to deal with:

-People changing their babies on an empty seat, and then handing the dirty diaper to the FA. Classy.
-An elderly gentleman using the bathroom, leaving with feces on his hands, and proceeding to touch the back of every seat on the way back to his. :puke:

Because I fly a lot for business, I usually get to sit in First and people are in general well-behaved with the exception of those Las Vegas or Cancun flights. I always feel bad for FAs on flights to Orlando. It is a hellacious flight between the number of out-of-control kids and rare fliers.

While I believe that jogging suits are an abomination, there is nothing in United's contract that outlines appropriate dress. As someone who flies three weeks per month, i've seen all kinds of bad fashion. As long as someone is comfortable and bathes, who cares?
