Pay problem parents not to breed
Pay problem parents not to breed, mayor says.
Some people just shouldn't have kids, he says

AN outspoken Kiwi politician has proposed a new solution to the country's child abuse problem - pay the "appalling underclass" not to breed.

Michael Laws - who stirred up controversy by calling the late Tongan King a "bloated brown slug'' - has again hit the headlines.

"That there is a group within our society who give their children no hope nor opportunity from the moment that they are born," the regional mayor wrote on the New Zealand radio website where he broadcasts as a talkback DJ.

1. Michael Laws, meet John LaBruzzo, of Metairie, La.
http://www.nwotruth.com/metairie-legislator-proposes-sterilization-for-poor-women

State Representative John LaBruzzo of Metairie said many of his constituents are tired of paying for children from poor families and that is why he is considering proposing legislation that would pay women on government assistance $1,000 if they choose to be sterilized.

“You have these people who are just fed up with working their buns off to try to provide for their own family and being forced by the government to provide for others’ families who just want to have unlimited kids,” he said.

LaBruzzo said he is studying voluntary sterilization for women whose sole financial support comes from the government in the form of welfare or other public assistance. His idea would be to give the women $1,000 if they had their tubes tied....

The ACLU called it a misguided and mean-spirited attempt to eliminate poverty by eliminating the poor.

Bear in mind the phrase "State Representative of Metairie", a white-flight New Orleans suburb, once applied to David Dukkke himself.

3. Seems like you would need to pay someone a LOT more than $1000 to sterilze themselves
Sooner or later they will stop offering the $1000 and just do it by force.

5. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2002/05/02/virginia-eugenics.htm

Virginia forcibly sterilized about 7,450 people under the banner of eugenics, or selective human breeding and social engineering.

The practice continued until 1979. Last year, the General Assembly passed a resolution expressing "profound regret" for the state's role, but stopped short of issuing a formal apology....

The law targeted virtually any human shortcoming that was believed to be hereditary, including mental illness, mental retardation, epilepsy, alcoholism and criminal behavior. Even people deemed to be "ne'er-do-wells" were sometimes targeted.

7. Female sterilization is major surgery
so, yes, that grand is far too low.

However, it's just about right for a 10 minute procedure on a male, leaving him able to do everything but procreate.

4. proactive
He should be even more proactive, and promote education, birth control and choice. For all citizens, not just those he may feel are undesirable.

6. can't feed 'em, don't breed 'em
I hear that in this country all the time. Sometimes right here at DU. I think folks have supported paying people to get sterilizations here, which isn't that much different from paying people to not have kids.

8. Psychopaths
Narcissists and athoritarian personalities should not breed, pedophiles, rapists and spousal abusers shouldn't have kids , nor should religious fanatics, the super wealthy(alot of very rich kids are very narcissistic)or addicts that cannot stop using during pregnancy.

That's my 2 cents.

I think if we could stop the production of these toxic personality types things would be better.

And any man or woman who wants to be sterile or have a hysterectomy/vasectomy should have it done on request for free.
I said on my first Gyn appointment I wanted a tube tie and unterus out at age 13 but the gyns wouldn't do it citing I may want kids one day. I made the decision to not have kids when I was 5 years old.I had to wait until I was 24 years old before I finally got the tube tie,and 30 to get the uterus out.I knew I would not be a good parent. And sometimes being a good parent means not becoming a parent.
