NBC Nightly News: Showing the Shooter's Video and Photos

They are showing everything as it looks.

for someone to commit a similar attrocity, they had already decided before this.

We're adults here...and I suspect 99.99% of those watching are as let. Let's see what this killer wanted us to see and learn from it. For the most part, the coverage has been careful to show anything that would be considered exploitive or shocking.

The problem is other forms of "deification" that follows these incidents...movies, television specials, books and so on that attempt to glorify these killings and killers or sensationalize them. Hopefully NBC will keep tight rein on any tapes that could be used to avoid the titalzation factor. In the meantime, let's learn a little more about what made Cho snapped...maybe its something someone sees in a co-worker or acquaintance and this results in another Cho getting some help before he/she snaps.

There are pictures of him smiling, some with the guns, and I remember them showing two videos I believe. I believe they are actually not showing some because they are too obscene for Television.

posing like Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver. The video was rambling "you didnt have to make me do thiss." "you now have blood on your hands" BS. None of it was eloquent or enlightening as to why he did it. NBC said that it was very profain and that they showed what they could.

have even mentioned the guys name for fear of encouraging a copy cat. Now they give him a forum. And he even gets more that his 15 minutes. I see more of this in the future.

Like NBC has launched a new reality series:

"America's Next Top Killer." (I'm not trying to funny. But there is no getting around the absurdity of NBC's actions)

And once Nightly News showed them, everyone else could. I have seen the pics and video on CNN and that other network already.

Now that the video and photos are in the public domain, it can be shown by other media outlets.

The video delves into what he was thinking. I think that is something important to many people.

Seems to me that what we need to see more of is the victims...and less of the killers. Showing all the footage and spending all the time talking about the killer tends to put the wrong thing in the spotlight. People should see how horrible the results of violence are, not gloss this over and obsess on the killers.
