Every time I read the phrase "We Don't Have The Votes" it makes me wanna spit.
I feel a rant coming on.

"We don't have the votes for Single Payer!" It's so very, very convenient and passive-tense. I've got a question. Why don't we "have the votes?" Which of you fearless Dem Congressfuckers aren't willing to vote for HR676? And why? Do your principles prevent you from advocating and supporting what is demonstrably the best and most cost-effective HCR solution? If so, what does that say about your principles? Are you afraid you can't sell it to your constituents? If so, what does that say about your leadership? Or why you are even there? Is is all about getting re-elected?

What a lousy cop-out of a non-reason.

End rant.

1. Why don't they say, "We don't have the votes," whenever a big budget
increase for the Pentagon is coming up?

2. As Tatum O'Neill said to Ryan O'Neill when he said he didn't have her $200:
"Then git it!"

Get the damned votes!

3. I agree with most of what you say
My position is that if one comes up with a bill, put it out there. Let others vote how they wish and then you can see who really for or against a certain bill This hiding behind doors, hiding behind the party, just hiding has to stop. It seems that they are so afraid of actually doing their jobs.

It seems they want to get elected so bad they really have no idea what the job entails. No idea how to do the job.

4. It's a vicious cycle of electing Blue Dogs.
And they always get to destroy bills while we always need to wait to throw them out.

5. First why does congress members put
their beliefs and what they want before the public. They were elected to serve the public. Even if what they believe is not what they public wants they are obligated to do that. Just like the abortions nuts. So they don't abortion, their constituents want it, so they MUST vote for it. They were not elected to run the country the way they want. They were elected to do our bidding. The keep forgetting they are public servants and it is their duty to serve the public.
