Many of you know I'm a tree-hugging, left wing peacenik. Here's a heads up about Veterans Day festivities in Boston.
A little background info:
Timewarp yourself back to Veterans Day 2007. If you recall, 18 of us got arrested for ‘disturbing a lawful assembly’. Click
here for my photo essay on that action. We went to court on 12.14.2007 and
the case was dismissed. BTW, no one from the Mayor’s office ever called us back.
Fast forward to Veterans Day 2008.
I tried not to get arrested again and was successful. In 2008 the American Legion, which ‘owns’ the Veterans Day parade decided not to have a rally on Boston’s City Hall Plaza. I’m sure they were thinking “WTF are those crazy Veterans For Peace going to do this year?” Here’s a

Fast forward to Veterans Day 2009.
My chapter of the Veterans For Peace, being the inquisitive folks we are, checked with City Hall to see if the American Legion had pulled a permit for 2009. Guess what? They didn’t. So we did. We may be marching behind the street sweepers, but
we have the City Hall Plaza assembly permit. The festivities this year on Boston’s City Hall Plaza will include The Leftist Marching Band (some pics
here) and the Raging Grannies (pics
here). We will also have a number of non-warmongering speakers and no JROTC standing silently in formations. Here’s our
flyer about the day.
Come on down to City Hall Plaza and celebrate with us.
