Do we need to bombard MSNBC with phone calls and emails to tell them to STOP treating Palin like she
is some kind of starlet?

They are like paparazzi. Even Keith and Rachel are getting into this. They are feeding into this frenzy.

I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT HER - SHUT UP ALREADY!!

Tell me what's going on in the Senate, in Afghanistan, show me Holder on Capitol Hill, anything but her.

If they want to talk about an amazing woman - why don't they talk about Hillary?

6. there is risk in hoping she runs, in that it could bring the nutcases out of the woodwork
and create a right wing whack job voter frenzy - combine that with a disenfranchised, or overly comfortable Dem base - and it could spell disaster.

what looks ludicrous to us is looking pretty damn good to an alarming number of people!

7. OK, lets talk about truly amazing women
I admire Hillary tremendously even though I'm not happy she's a centrist. She's smart and I would have her fight in my corner any time and anywhere. I like history's fantastic women too. Harriet Tubman puts most of us, including men to real shame when it comes to being brave and putting her life on the line in her fight for freedom. Did you know that during the Civil War she was a spy for the Union who used to walk right in the Southern Officers meeting while they were in the field and serve them and clean up after them while they made battle plans? They never even looked at her. And did you know that she lead Union infantry through bogs and swamps because she knew the lay of the land so well?

What a woman!

11. She was an amazing woman - I was just thinking of a current politcal woman - why not Susan Rice?
Or how about Janet Napolitano? There are so many powerful women in politics - why do they settle for a nutcase?

9. Keith and Rachel are pointing out what a phony, baloney liar she is. They
are dispelling the astroturf, but for the rest of the fawning media, I would like them to STFU.

10. MSNBC has given shows to Joe Scabby and Mrs. Greenspan.
They show Lockup! and other crime crap when they could be showing Dylan/Ed/Keith/Rachel reruns.

At least, they only half-suck.

17. Perhaps "mock" is the word you were looking for, rather than mimic.
And no, I'm not trying to mock or mimic you. But how would you know that they're talking about Palin if you weren't watching it?

13. I don't want them to treat Hillary like they treat Palin
Edited on Wed Nov-18-09 06:02 PM by karynnj
With Hillary, I want them to ask about Afghanistan, Pakistan etc - just as they ask serious questions of the President, VP Biden, or any respected Senator or Governor.

The way they treat her shows what they think of her. Every here needs to calm down this week and next as she does her book tour. What people forget is that this book tour will get her air time, but it likely will not win her followers. The fact is that even if the book tour coverage was almost entirely positive, it likely would be seen for what it is a "fluff" piece. If you remember back to Fall of 2006, John and Elizabeth Edwards both had books that came out in September/October. In another thread, I posted a list of over 10 appearances each had (from the JRE group). Edwards did not gain much if any in polls taken in September/October - and the coverage then, especially of Elizabeth was entirely positive. The coverage of Palin has been at least as much negative as positive. Look at the Newsweek cover - the title is damning and the picture likley won't help her. The McCain people have been out protecting their reputation. So, there is almost no need for Democrats to comment.

Also consider that the most of the people who are experienced running successful campaigns have likely worked with at least one of the people who saw Palin up close in 2008. How many of these experienced people will she get to run her campaign? Nastiness can make you a talk show host, but can it make you likable enough to win - even if she could convince enough people that she is capable enough? This book might bring her chances for a higher political office to zero, if it were not already there.
