316,000 Holiday Bongs Seized at Port

Custom officials unwrapped a surprise Tuesday at the Port of LA/Long Beach -- 316,000 glass bongs disguised as Christmas ornaments.

The shipment's value was estimated at more than $2.6 million. The fake ornaments were hidden inside 860 boxes that arrived from China in a shipping container.

Agents said the items were decorated like Christmas ornaments. Before you get any ideas, consider these holiday gift options.

Customs spokeswoman Cristina Gamez says the importer remains under investigation and there have been no arrests.

Srsly, since when are (brand-new unsmoked)bongs illegal? Every smoke shop, glass shop and sleazy gas station in town has 'em. the ones in the glass shop are locally produced, but I doubt the others are. :wtf:

but this has got to be the most absurd part of the war... You're seizing and impounding plastic tubes. Plastic tubes. Plastic tubes or glass tubes are "against the law" if they have holes in the "wrong" places. Everyone who ever had anything to do with writing or enforcing this law should call themselves an ass and shoot themselves.

They're perfectly legal unless there's actual traces of cannabis in them.
